Listen to the episode all the way through and show your love in the comments section Regards, TeamSJS If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies, Or being hated, don’t give way to hating, And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise: If you can dream—and not make dreams your master; If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools: If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’ If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch, If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it, And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son! Kahlil Gibran on Work | Read by Simerjeet Singh | The Prophet
Have you ever faced a situation when going to work seemed an arduous task? Did you ever believe that your professional life was a mess? Have you ever felt that you are not cut out for your current job? If you could relate to any of these questions, listen to Simerjeet Singh read out one of his favorite inspirational poems, “On Work,” by the Lebanese American poet Khalil Gibran. Through this rendition, we hope you will find the inspiration to fall in love with your profession once again and remember that no love story is perfect. Kahlil Gibran on Work Then a ploughman said, Speak to us of Work. And he answered, saying: You work that you may keep pace with the earth and the soul of the earth. For to be idle is to become a stranger unto the seasons, and to step out of life’s procession, that marches in majesty and proud submission towards the infinite. When you work you are a flute through whose heart the whispering of the hours turns to music. Which of you would be a reed, dumb and silent, when all else sings together in unison? Always you have been told that work is a curse and labor a misfortune. But I say to you that when you work you fulfill a part of earth’s furthest dream, assigned to you when the dream was born, And in keeping yourself with labor you are in truth loving life, And to love life through labor is to be intimate with life’s inmost secret. But if you in your pain call birth an affliction and the support of the flesh a curse was written upon your brow, then I answer that naught but the sweat of your brow shall wash away that which is written. You have been told also that life is darkness, and in your weariness, you echo what was said by the weary. And I say that life is indeed darkness save when there is urge, And all urge is blind save when there is knowledge, And all knowledge is vain save when there is work, And all work is empty save when there is love; And when you work with love you bind yourself to yourself, and to one another, and to God. And what is it to work with love? It is to weave the cloth with threads drawn from your heart, even as if your beloved were to wear that cloth. It is to build a house with affection, even as if your beloved were to dwell in that house. It is to sow seeds with tenderness and reap the harvest with joy, even as if your beloved were to eat the fruit. It is to charge all things you fashion with a breath of your own spirit, And to know that all the blessed dead are standing about you and watching. Often have I heard you say, as if speaking in sleep, “He who works in marble, and finds the shape of his own soul in the stone, is nobler than he who ploughs the soil. And he who seizes the rainbow to lay it on a cloth in the likeness of man is more than he who makes the sandals for our feet.” But I say, not in sleep but in the over wakefulness of noontide, that the wind speaks not more sweetly to the giant oaks than to the least of all the blades of grass; And he alone is great who turns the voice of the wind into a song made sweeter by his own loving. Work is love made visible. And if you cannot work with love but only with distaste, it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of those who work with joy. For if you bake bread with indifference, you bake a bitter bread that feeds but half man’s hunger. And if you grudge the crushing of the grapes, your grudge distills a poison in the wine. And if you sing though as angels, and love not the singing, you muffle man’s ears to the voices of the day and the voices of the night. The Responsibility of Fatherhood - Inspirational Poem by Edgar Albert Guest | Simerjeet Singh
Leadership begins at home. And responsibility changes everything. Becoming a father starts a transformational process for many young men as they realize that now, there's a little one who will look up to everything they do, whether it's good or bad. Edgar Albert Guest poetically captures the “The Responsibility of Fatherhood” in his inspiring poem and urges you to make sure that you are setting a good example for your young ones. Dedicated to responsible fathers worldwide! Your mentorship makes the world a better place. Regards, TeamSJS The Responsibility of Fatherhood by Edgar Albert Guest BEFORE you came, my little lad, I used to think that I was good, Some vicious habits, too, I had, But wouldn't change them if I could. I held my head up high and said: 'I'm all that I have need to be, It matters not what path I tread,' But that was ere you came to me. I treated lightly sacred things, And went my way in search of fun, Upon myself I kept no strings, And gave no heed to folly done. I gave myself up to the fight For worldly wealth and earthly fame, And sought advantage, wrong or right, But that was long before you came. But now you sit across from me, Your big brown eyes are opened wide, And every deed I do you see, And, O, I dare hot step aside. I've shaken loose from habits bad, And what is wrong I've come to dread, Because I know, my little lad, That you will follow where I tread. I want those eyes to glow with pride, In me I want those eyes to see The while we wander side by side The sort of man I'd have you be. And so I'm striving to be good With all my might, that you may know When this great world is understood, What pleasures are worth while below. I see life in a different light From what I did before you came, Then anything that pleased seemed right; But you are here to bear my name, And you are looking up to me With those big eyes from day to day, And I'm determined not to be The means of leading you astray. Kahlil Gibran on Pain | Inspirational Poem by Simerjeet Singh
Listen to Simerjeet Singh recite one of the most inspirational poems from The Prophet titled “On Pain” by Lebanese American Poet Khalil Gibran, as a part of the Poetry That Inspires Series. Towards the end of this rendition, he shares some profound wisdom from the Sufi master Rumi to inspire you to not demonize pain rather embrace it as a phase of life like any other, full of valuable life lessons. If you have suffered setbacks, failures, and heartbreaks, Simerjeet’s recitation of this life poetry will provide you with the strength to take on challenges, give your best, and accept the phases of pain with serenity and tranquillity. Regards, TeamSJS You must have had phases in your life when the suffering and pain would have appeared unbearable. You must have faced those moments that shook your resolve to give your best. If yes, listen to Simerjeet Singh read out one of his favourite inspirational poems, “On Pain” by the Lebanese American poet Khalil Gibran. In the latest rendition of the life-changing poem, Khalil Gibran conveys that pain is the essential remedy that propels you to higher levels of individual growth. It is a wonderous and remarkable force that can teach you that nothing lasts forever in life. Through this beautiful specimen of life poetry, Gibran highlights that you should accept phases of pain and the lessons it teaches as you accept the phases of happiness. You must learn to accept pain and not resist, deny and make it the villain of your life. It would help if you made a conscious choice to embrace it to let it heal you from within. The poet highlights that accepting pain will help you trust God or the divine power and tread on the chosen path with full faith. If you have suffered setbacks, failures, and heartbreaks, Simerjeet’s recitation of this life poetry will provide you with the strength to take on challenges, give your best, and accept the phases of pain with serenity and tranquillity. Pain by Khalil Gibran Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding. Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain. And could you keep your heart in wonder at the daily miracles of your life, your pain would not seem less wondrous than your joy; And you would accept the seasons of your heart, even as you have always accepted the seasons that pass over your fields. And you would watch with serenity through the winters of your grief. Much of your pain is self-chosen. It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self. Therefore trust the physician, and drink his remedy in silence and tranquillity: For his hand, though heavy and hard, is guided by the tender hand of the Unseen, And the cup he brings, though it burn your lips, has been fashioned of the clay which the Potter has moistened with His own sacred tears. ~ Kahlil Gibran Watch it on YouTube: https://youtu.be/PkW45kuOO_Y #PoetryThatInspires #Pain #KahlilGibran #SimerjeetSingh #InspirationalPoetry #MotivationalPoem #MotivationalPoetry #InspirationalPoems #KhalilGibran #InspirationalPoem Follow us on: https://linktr.ee/SimerjeetSingh
