It seems that most households have a container of protein powder in the pantry for everyone to use, but does everyone need protein powder?

- Other than taste and cost, what are some of the key factors to consider when deciding which type to purchase?

Whey, casein, collagen, cricket powder, or vegetarian protein powders, such as soy, pea, rice, hemp, or nuts and seeds are some types available. Some are concentrates, while others are isolates and hydrosylates.

If you choose to purchase a protein powder, there are some ingredients that you may want to review and possibly avoid to improve the health aspects of the supplement.
