Sl: Matej hodi po ozkih ulicah Pirana.
En: Matej walks through the narrow streets of Piran.

Sl: Poletje je v polnem razmahu, a nebo je temno in polno oblakov.
En: Summer is in full swing, but the sky is dark and filled with clouds.

Sl: Veter se dviguje, valovi butajo ob obalo razburkanega morja.
En: The wind is rising, waves are crashing against the shore of the stormy sea.

Sl: Danes je praznik Marijinega vnebovzetja, ob tem pa umirajo stare zamere v Matejevi družini.
En: Today is the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, and with it, old grudges in Matej's family are dissolving.

Sl: Matej se ustavi na Tartinijevem trgu.
En: Matej stops at Tartini Square.

Sl: Tam ga čakata njegova sestra Katarina in prijatelj Luka.
En: There, his sister Katarina and his friend Luka await him.

Sl: Katarina stisne ustnice in pogleda morje.
En: Katarina presses her lips together and looks out at the sea.

Sl: "Si prepričan, da moraš iti?
En: "Are you sure you have to go?"

Sl: " vpraša.
En: she asks.

Sl: "Moram," pravi Matej odločno.
En: "I have to," says Matej firmly.

Sl: "Če je ta družinski dragulj res pomemben, ga bom našel.
En: "If this family jewel is truly important, I will find it.

Sl: To je morda moja edina priložnost, da popravim napake v družini.
En: This might be my only chance to make amends in the family."

Sl: " Luka, ki je vedno skeptični prijatelj, dvomi o legendi.
En: Luka, who is always the skeptical friend, doubts the legend.

Sl: "Kaj pa, če to sploh ne drži?
En: "What if it's not true at all?

Sl: Kaj, če ni ničesar tam spodaj?
En: What if there's nothing down there?"

Sl: " pravi.
En: he says.

Sl: Vendar vidi odločnost v Matejevih očeh in ve, da ga ne more ustaviti.
En: However, he sees the determination in Matej's eyes and knows that he cannot stop him.

Sl: Veter zapiha močneje, valovi postajajo nevarni.
En: The wind blows stronger, and the waves become dangerous.

Sl: A Matej je pripravljen.
En: But Matej is ready.

Sl: Sleče srajco in stopi do roba pomola.
En: He takes off his shirt and walks to the edge of the pier.

Sl: Za trenutek se ozre nazaj proti Katarini in Luki, ki stojita skupaj, premočena dežja in skrbi.
En: For a moment, he looks back at Katarina and Luka, who stand together, drenched with rain and worry.

Sl: Luka in Katarina mu pomagata ven iz vode.
En: Luka and Katarina help him out of the water.

Sl: Matej drži v roki star lesen skrinjica, preraščena z algami.
En: Matej holds in his hand an old wooden box, overgrown with algae.

Sl: Odpre jo.
En: He opens it.

Sl: V njej je zlat prstan s starodavnim grbom.
En: Inside is a golden ring with an ancient crest.

Sl: Toda nepričakovano spoznanje ga zadene: ni samo prstan tisti, ki je družina potrebovala.
En: But he is struck by an unexpected realization: it is not just the ring that the family needed.

Sl: "To je samo simbol," reče Matej zadihan in srečen, "najpomembnejša je naša povezanost, pogovor.
En: "This is just a symbol," says Matej, breathless and happy, "the most important thing is our connection, our conversation."

Sl: "Katarina in Luka sta mu blizu.
En: Katarina and Luka are close to him.

Sl: Vsi se zavedajo, da je pomembno govoriti resnico, razumeti drug drugega in delati na družinskih vezeh.
En: They all realize it is important to speak the truth, understand each other, and work on family bonds.

Sl: Pijani od radosti, stojijo tam, z nogami v vodi, in opazujejo, kako se nebo jasni.
En: Drunk with joy, they stand there with their feet in the water, watching as the sky clears.

Sl: Matej spozna, da prstan lahko odpočije v varstvu, a njegovo mesto je med njimi – skupaj kot družina.
En: Matej realizes that the ring can rest in safekeeping, but its place is among them – together as a family.
