Understanding Demons

In traditional theology and demonology, demons are understood not as monsters of folklore, but as purely spiritual, non-corporeal beings possessing high intelligence and free will. Demonologist Adam Blai explains that these entities were originally created as holy angels whose primary purpose was to serve as messengers and agents of God’s divine plan, designed to exist in a state of perfect harmony with their Creator. However, their nature changed through a singular, irrevocable choice; Blai explains that the "fall" of these angels was rooted in pride—a definitive rejection of God’s authority and a refusal to serve a divine plan that would eventually involve the elevation of humanity. Because they exist outside of linear time, Blai notes that their choice was absolute, transforming them into beings defined by malice and a desire to distance others from the divine.

The mechanics of demonology reveal a world of chilling, legalistic precision where every fallen entity is a twisted mirror of its original glory. Blai explains that because each demon was once a holy angel with a particular mission, their fall resulted in a predatory inversion of that light; an angel once tasked with inspiring divine holiness becomes a spirit that obsessively hunts for discord. Despite their rebellion, Blai emphasizes that demons possess an agonizingly clear clarity of truth: they know Jesus Christ is King, and they tremble at the authority of His name. Drawing from the front lines of over 1,000 exorcism cases, Blai recounts how these "lawyers of the spiritual world" don’t just attack—they trick their way into a life, meticulously building "legal rights" over a person. They are master manipulators who can infest a home or oppress the body, yet they are bound by ironclad spiritual laws: they cannot violate the fortress of human free will without an invitation. In Blai’s experience, even the most terrifying manifestation is a "dog on a leash," eternally tethered by Divine Permissive Will and permitted to act only so far as it might inadvertently forge a person's spiritual resolve.
