S3 Ep14: It Doesn't Get Any Better Than This: Jeff Rimer on His Remarkable Career and New Book.

John Shannon and Daren Millard welcome longtime NHL broadcaster Jeff Rimer to 100% Hockey for a conversation about his remarkable career behind the microphone, the personalities he's encountered, and the stories featured in his new book, It Doesn't Get Any Better Than This.

Rimer takes John and Daren through his journey in sports broadcasting, from his childhood dreams of playing in the NHL to landing his first hockey play-by-play opportunity with the Washington Capitals. Along the way, he shares memorable encounters with some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment, including Muhammad Ali, Tom Selleck, and Pete Rose.

One of the conversation's standout stories involves Rimer's efforts to bring Pete Rose to the Montreal Expos, an idea that ultimately ran into opposition from team ownership. He also reflects on his friendship with Doug MacLean, his involvement in helping MacLean pursue coaching opportunities, and the relationships that have shaped his decades in hockey.

The discussion also turns to Rimer's new book, the experiences of revisiting his broadcasting career, and the stories he's been sharing with fans during his book tour.

Before welcoming Rimer, John and Daren catch up on the latest NHL developments, including Connor Hellebuyck's debut with the New Jersey Devils, recent games, and player movement around the league.

It's an entertaining trip through decades of sports history, filled with memorable personalities, behind-the-scenes stories, and a few laughs along the way.
