Birth Mother Matters in Adoption #71: Making a Hospital Plan During COVID-19

Birth Mother Matters in Adoption #71: Making a Hospital Plan During COVID-19 When its time for a birth mother to make an adoption plan with her adoption case worker, this moment is one where she is reminded about how her adoption choice is very real. Some birth mothers have stated that they haven’t really thought about how they would like their time in the hospital to look like. Prior to this pandemic, hospital plans looked very different than they do now. The hospital was the time where a birth mother was able to be able to make all of the decisions about who she wanted in the room with her during Labor & Delivery, where the baby would stay after delivery, how much contact she and her baby would have with the adoptive family during their hospital stay, what discharge would look like; would they be discharged at the same time and leave the hospital together or would they have separate discharge times. In this situation; looking at it from the outside; its hard to see any highs for a birth mother in regard to a hospital plan as there are so many lows. Often, what goes down, comes up; so lets examine where there are some positives; learn about the choices a birth mother stills has and how to look differently at the ones she doesn't. Birth Mother Matters Adoption S2,Ep.158: Fentanyl in the Adoption World

Birth Mother Matters Adoption S2,Ep.158: Fentanyl in the Adoption World

Birth Mother Matters Adoption Season 2,Episode 158: Fentanyl in the Adoption World According to the CDC Website- "Pharmaceutical fentanyl is a synthetic opioid, approved for treating severe pain, typically advanced cancer pain. It is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine. It is prescribed in the form of transdermal patches or lozenges and can be diverted for misuse and abuse in the United States. However, most recent cases of fentanyl-related harm, overdose, and death in the U.S. are linked to illegally made fentanyl. It is sold through illegal drug markets for its heroin-like effect. It is often mixed with heroin and/or cocaine as a combination product—with or without the user’s knowledge—to increase its euphoric effects" For Adoptive Parents, when you have or had a birth mother that is or has used Fentanyl, be educated, and learn all you can. For Birth Mothers, by choosing adoption, you can choose the asoptive family for your baby.  Your baby does not have to go into foster care, or be a ward of the state.  Choosing adoption, means choosing the life for your baby that you want your baby have and your baby deserves.  Choosing an open adoption means you can remain in your child's life. Adoption is a beautiful choice.
