85: Tata Harper On The Natural Beauty Movement & Eating Your Way To Healthy Skin

Tata Harper, founder and CEO of Tata Harper Skincare, questioned what was in her beauty products when her stepfather was advised by doctors to stay away from certain chemicals following a cancer diagnosis. She began researching those hard-to-pronounce ingredients in her products, finding tons of synthetic materials, some of which also happened to be used in car manufacturing. The Colombian-born mother of three, with a background in industrial engineering, has made it her mission to redefine the beauty industry with her non-toxic, luxury skincare line, which is handmade on an organic farm in Vermont. I first met Tata in 2013 at Organic Avenue where she was giving people facials and talking about the launch of Tata Harper Skincare. Now, five plus years later, she joined me on the mbg podcast to talk about how she found the right people, ingredients, and farm to launch a business. Working with botanists, aromatherapists, and green chemists, she found natural ways to make preservatives and emulsifiers for her Ecocert-certified products, instead of just removing parabens or sulfates. While her motto is “more is more” when it comes to your skin health she tells us her company is about being the best, not the biggest. That is exactly why they are focusing on quality as they expand into South-East Asia and Australia. A health enthusiast in all aspects, Tata shares her must-have supplements and the foods she eats for healthy skin. Whether you’ve transitioned to all-natural skin care products or just getting your feet wet, Tata’s knowledge and experience in the industry will inspire you to learn more and maybe consider taking the next step.
