Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show Season 4, Episode 33: Bayern Munich and Joshua Kimmich hit an impasse...now what?; Celebrating Bayern Munich’s 125th Anniversary; An Entertainment Rundown; and MORE!

So...is there anything important going on at Bayern Munich?

Obviously, the recent news on Joshua Kimmich has taken center-stage, so we will dive fully into that situation, while also offering up an appreciation of the club as it celebrates its 125th Anniversary. This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show:

  • The breaking news that Bayern Munich pulled its contract extension offer from Joshua Kimmich left many observers stunned. What does it mean? Where do the two side go from here? Does Kimmich have other options? WIll Bayern add another midfielder to the mix this summer if Kimmich walks?
  • Celebrating Bayern Munich’s 125th Anniversary — why the club is so important, why so many fans have gravitated to it, and how the club’s Mia San Mia mentality and true “Commitment to Excellence” (sorry Raiders fans) are something that we should all appreciate.
  • A brief Entertainment Rundown featuring an ode to Gene Hackman and some final thoughts on the ending of the Netflix series, “Cobra Kai.”

Bavarian Podcast Works: Preview Show — Bayern Munich vs. FC Köln (Hinrunde)

Bavarian Podcast Works: Preview Show — Bayern Munich vs. FC Köln (Hinrunde)

Bayern Munich will be back in Bundesliga action this Sunday, and against Köln, they will look to carry the momentum from their thrilling 3-1 win against Dortmund that clinched them the DFL-Supercup.Köln started the season with a dominant 3-1 win against Hertha Berlin, and will therefore be no easy opponent. Bayern’s defenders will have their hands full with Köln’s speedy attack, but the Bavarians are no slouches either and would aim to trouble the opposition with some intense pressing and relentless attacking. Lewandowski in particular will be rearing to carry his elite goal-scoring form into this game.Yes, Nagelsmann did show us some of what he might have in store for the fans this season in the victory against Dortmund, but the fact remains that he has yet to win a Bundesliga game with Bayern (I know, the team has only played one game, but still), and now will be the best time to get to winning ways. Here’s what we have in store for you:A quick intro (this is my first pod, after all!)Some quick takeaways from Bayern’s game against DortmundThe form of both teams going into the gameKey players and predicted lineupsA final score predictionAnd as usual, do give your feedback and feel free to show your support in the comments!Be sure to rate us, like us, subscribe to us, and follow us on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and anywhere else you get your quality audio content.Follow us on Twitter @BavarianFBWorks, @jeffersonfenner, @TheBarrelBlog, @tommyadams71, and more.Learn more about your ad choices. BPW Postgame Show: Talking points from Bayern Munich’s 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in the DFL Supercup

Having started the season on a sour note by drawing to Gladbach, Bayern Munich have pulled one back by winning the first silverware of the Julian Nagelsmann era. Borussia Dortmund may have been missing some key players in this year’s edition of the DFL Supercup, but that didn’t make this game any less entertaining. As always, there was plenty to discuss about the game, which you can listen to below. Talking points from the game:How Julian Nagelsmann configured Bayern’s defense to deal with Haaland. Complaining about Bayern’s wingers (again). Why Thomas Muller seems underutilized in the system at the moment. Josip Stanisic the enigma. As always, feedback is appreciated and thank you for the support! Bavarian Podcast Works: DFL-Supercup Preview Show — Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich

Bavarian Podcast Works: DFL-Supercup Preview Show — Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich

In his first “final” in the DFL-Supercup, Julian Nagelsmann will fight for a trophy as manager of Bayern Munich against Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund is not his favorite rival; time and time again, Dortmund took Leipzig apart, including in the DFB-Pokal finale. Both sides have defensive injuries to contend with. Mats Hummels is seemingly out and Emre Can is a doubt as well. A makeshift defense consisting of Felix Passlack, Axel Witsel, Manuel Akanji and Nico Schulz. Bayern has to deal with the absence of Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez; seemingly, Josip Stanisic will retain his place at right-back going into this match up.Marco Rose’s Dortmund pressed incessantly against Frankfurt. Bayern did not seem too press-resistant against Borussia Mönchengladbach on the other hand. The Bavarians look rather rusty and a Dortmund fixture might be coming at a bad time for Nagelsmann’s charges. Some topics discussed on this podcast:Why this game matters for both sidesA review of Dortmund’s performance against Eintracht FrankfurtSome issues in Bayern’s game against GladbachDayot Upamecano’s issues against physically imposing strikersIssues at the back for both sides.Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany. Bavarian Podcast Works: First impressions and a new dynamic duo?

Bavarian Podcast Works: First impressions and a new dynamic duo?

The 2021/2022 Bundesliga season is officially upon us and match week 1 is officially in the books! Bayern Munich opened up their campaign with an entertaining 1-1 draw at Borussia Monchengladbach with the goals from Alassane Plea and Robert Lewandowski (who else?). It was Julian Nagelsmann’s first competitive match in charge as Bayern manager, but he was forced to field a handful of younger or fringe players, particularly in defense, with the amount of injuries the squad has already accumulated. Josip Stanisic impressed, Dayot Upamecano was decent, but there’s still plenty of work to do for Nagelsmann as he know switches gears to prep for the midweek DFL-Supercup against Borussia Dortmund. For the first time ever on Bavarian Podcast Works, Tom and Ineednoname team up for this week’s flagship episode. We had to work to find a time to record, living on opposite ends of the globe, but it was a pleasure to get a new voice on the flagship show, as we’re making it a point this season to get some more voices involved on the podcast. This could be the birth of a new dynamic duo, with no discredit to Chuck or Jake, though I never shy away from making fun of Chuck. Let us know how we did in the comments section and thanks again for listening with us. We look forward to the rest of the season and being able to share it with all of you!  Yet again, we’re providing you the best audio content by giving you a wrap-up and recap of this most recent match. In this episode Tom and Ineednoname discuss:-Our first impressions thus far of Nagelsmann-The crazy landscape of the transfer market this summer-Whether or not we think Bayern will sign Marcel Sabitzer from RB Leipzig-The wage structure at Bayern-Who we think Bayern’s biggest European rivals will be this season-And more!Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany. BPW Postgame Show: Talking points from Bayern Munich’s opening day draw to Gladbach

It was an opening day disaster for Bayern Munich as they failed to beat Borussia Monchengladbach away from home. Okay, maybe “disaster” is a bit strong, but the performance wasn’t that good. Julian Nagelsmann’s tenure as coach has started inauspiciously, with him failing to win a single game so far. Is this a sign of things to come? Talking points from the game:Just how good is Alphonso Davies?Josip Stanisic shows promise. Gnabry and Sane are letting the team down at the moment. Was Thomas Muller less involved?Nagelsmann needs to adjust to Bayern, not the other way around. Upamecano’s troubles with physical strikers. As always, thank you for the support! Another week is in the books for Bayern Munich and what a week it was. It seems as if it is only a matter of time before the team officially extends the contract of Joshua Kimmich, but the club’s rumored pursuit of Marcel Sabitzer could have hit a roadblock. Regardless, here are the topics we have on tap: The mayhem in the midfield with potential contract extensions for Kimmich and Leon Goretzka, the pursuit of Sabitzer, and possible sale of Corentin Tolisso. The curious case of Leroy Sane and why this year is so important for both the Sane and Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidzic — despite the former Manchester City man not wanting to be judged by his goals or assists. The uncertain season ahead of Julian Nagelsmann — especially after declaring his roster was a bit thin. As always, thank you for the support! Will that matter when these two teams do battle? We’ll soon find out. Here is what we have on tap: A quick look at both squads.A predicted lineup for Bayern Munich.A prediction on the match. Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany.
