Lies My Doctor Told Me, Diabetes and the Ketogenic Diet, Thinking Outside The Medical Box – Dr. Ken Berry KKP 006

Today, I am lucky to have here with me a profound and highly-driven keto advocate from the medical field, Dr. Ken Berry. Although his practice is not yet warmly accepted in our society today, he is firm on his stand when it comes to the ketogenic diet. Dr. Berry is the first physician in the family. It was always his childhood dream. At the age of 13, he started having severe migraines and thought he would not be fit for a medical doctor’s lifestyle. However, his condition got better during his college days and hoped that he could finally fulfill his dream. He was determined to change his way of eating when he was obese and became prediabetec at the age of 35. He knew his stressful lifestyle coupled with unhealthy eating habits contributed to his condition. Dr. Berry was further challenged to make a change in order to help his critically ill patients. His goal is to spread the truth about the ketogenic diet. Dr. Berry had already published a book entitled, “Lies My Doctor Told Me” and is increasing his reach with the help of social media channels. In this episode, Dr. Berry and I talked about ketogenic diet, type 2 diabetes, the 3 pillars of health and nutrition, exercise and more. He shared his journey with living his best life starting with the paleo diet then transitioning to low-carb diet and finally the ketogenic diet. He also shed some light as to why ketogenic diet doesn’t work for other people. Moreover, tips and strategies were shared on how to get the most out of the keto diet. Tune in! [07:56] The 3 Pillars of Health and Nutrition He want back to dig up his medical books and lecture notes to refresh his knowledge on his nutrition training. After reading up on the materials that he was able to retrieve, he was reminded that the foundation of health is knowledge and understanding of human nutrition. The 3 Pillars of Health and Nutrition: 1. Eat lots of whole grain 2. Don’t eat any saturated fat. 3. Jog. [09:32] The Unexpected Weight Gain He has an exceptional training background when it comes to parenteral nutrition. However, he admits that, when it comes to feeding a healthy human being in a disease-preventive way, he was clueless. Dr. Berry guided himself with the 3 pillars and applied it in his daily life. Despite his consistent hard work for 2 months, he still gained 5-10 pounds. [10:25] Thinking Outside The Medical Doctor Box Read different works on nutrition: Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution by Robert Atkins The Paleo Diet by Loren Cordain The Primal Blueprint by Mark Sisson He tried this new knowledge on himself starting with paleo and transitioned to a low-carb diet which got him better but still far from his health goal. Immediately felt better, lost weight, decreased inflammation. He then finally tried ketogenic diet and after 2 months he thought to offer it to his morbidly obese patients, many of which are scheduled for a gastric bypass which is a risky procedure. His patients started noticing his transformation and were curious about what he was doing. He finally recommended the ketogenic diet to his patients with the worst case of morbid obesity and they all started getting better. [12:43] Dr. Berry’s Patients on Keto Diet He monitors his patients closely since the diet was presumed to be dangerous. After 1 month, his patients would come back asking if they could do it for a longer period of time. They loved the diet and was very happy with the results Many patients, who cancelled their bariatric surgery, were coming to him because they wanted to lose fat naturally. He was very glad he found a tool that could help many others when the only option most of them had before was a bariatric surgery. He only recommended it to his sickest patients [16:28] Type 2 Diabetes and the Ketogenic Diet Type 2 Diabetes is not a disease. It is one of the many ways how poison in your diet can manifest itself. Poisons: Sugar Grains Industrial seed oils Removing these poisons from the diet results to type 2 diabetes going away. [18:42] Truth about EBM: Evidence-Based Medicine or Eminence-Based Diet American Diabetes Association (ADA) claims their diet recommendation is based on zero research and it’s based on expert consensus. Dr. Berry, on the other hand, believes in true evidence based medicine (EBM) but oftentimes, no meaningful research is done on a topic which makes EBM mean something else, “Eminence Based Diet” Leading authorities in the medical field decide what is considered EBM as standard of care and there are many instances in history wherein these EBM, such as lobotomy and provision of Valium to premenopausal women, have been further proven to be dangerous and ineffective. [22:10] What Led Him to His Life Mission Dr. Berry knew he was called to reverse type 2 diabetes and obesity. His wife, Neisha, an active social media user, asked him, “How many patients do you help a day in the clinic?” and “How many patients can you help on social media?”. He had no social media presence back then other than Facebook. His wife’s question made him realize he had a big goal social media can give him a bigger platform. Dr. Berry started with creating a YouTube channel and other social media accounts [26:28] Elevated A1C VS. Elevated LDL “An elevated A1C is a shotgun pointed at your heart and an elevated LDL might be a BB gun pointed at your arm”. After reading more research on LDL, Dr. Berry says it is not a risk factor. Elevated cholesterol and elevated LDL does not increase your risk of heart attack or stroke. This elevation may be caused by an inflammation in your body and it is it’s attempt of filling in the damage done in your arteries. Your body naturally makes cholesterol. Even the brain has its own cholesterol manufacturing process. An elevated A1C, elevated triglyceride level, and a low HDL level are more important markers than an elevated LDL. Doctors who are concerned with elevated cholesterol are already 10 years behind on their readings while doctors who are alarmed by elevated LDL are 3-5 years behind. American Heart Association’s (AHA/ACC) cardiac risk calculator does not factor in the LDL level but uses triglyceride and HDL levels. [32:33] Recommendation for the Use of Statins Recommendation for the use of statins will lower LDL level but will not positively influence your 10-year cardiac risk. The medical community continues to promote the use of statins because their paradigm has not yet shifted. Some medical practitioners are gaining awareness when it comes to this issue Many doctors are still relying on recommendations given by the AHA. However, big companies and corporations heavily influence the information distributed by the association We are slowly killing ourselves by taking harmful medication [36:05] Social Media is the Key Dr. Berry intends to use of social media to help spread the word and tell people to stop poisoning themselves. People are dying everyday because of belief on a false paradigm. Social media helps him educate and tell people to stop comiting suicide and stop letting your doctors commit homicide. Being loud and obnoxious about the information will help prevent unnecessary deaths. [37:59] The Story of Dr. Simon Weiss The quote: “The way you judge someone’s stature in the medical community is the length of their white coat” and a story on Dr. Simon Weiss which illustrates Dr. Ken Berry’s advocacy Back then doctors were seen as gentlemen and it was a common assumption that gentlemen are never dirty. Mortality rate of women and children were high because of the childbirth fever caused by unsanitary practices of doctors. Dr. Weiss observed that in poorer areas where midwives facilitated child birth instead of doctors and women and children were not affected by childbirth fever because midwives do not handle dissections in the morgue. Dr. Weiss published his research but because of his short coat, he was not taken seriously by other doctors. The unsanitary practice went on for 70-80 years before another doctor discovered Dr. Weiss’ research and shed light unto it. It took another decade before more doctors caught on to the proper practice of handwashing. With this, Dr. Ken Berry stands firm with his belief on the ketogenic diet and is willing to take the risk that comes with it so that people can know the truth. [43:20] Overcoming the Powdered Butt Syndrome Powdered Butt Syndrome is when people, for example your senior, don’t take you seriously no matter what you say or evidence you show. A third party source may be helpful with conveying the information to your family and friends which is what many people do. As with Dr. Berry, his videos takes a big part in encouraging people to listen and understand the truth about the ketogenic diet. [45:42] Why Ketogenic is Not Working for Other People? After enthusiastically getting in to keto, some people slack off and allow gradually themselves more and more carb loaded food items. This reduces fat loss and increases inflammation. People should have a friend, coach, that can re-check their diet Document what you’re eating and consult someone with knowledgeable on keto to figure out what you’re doing or eating wrong. Don’t easily trust and simply rely on what big food names claim when it comes to being healthy because there are loopholes they go through to make their products seem healthy enough. Big food corporations only care about making a profit and will do all things just to cut down on cost. [49:22] Dining in Restaurants Don’t be afraid to let restaurants know of the ingredients and food items that you’re avoiding in a keto diet. Tip: Have a laminated small laminated information card stating that “I’m allergic to sugar in all forms, all grains, and the following oils. Please do not include it in my meals”. As more people do this, big chain restaurants can go bankrupt or they can evolve to meet people’s need for real and safe human food. Be willing to go the extra penny for quality food. Accepting bad food because it’s cheap is as good as voting for it. [51:53] PEO (Parent Essential Oils) Solution by Dr. Brian Peskin PEO Solution: Conquering Cancer, Diabetes and Heart Disease with Parent Essential Oils is the collaborative effort of Dr. Brian S. Peskin and Dr. Robert Jay Rowen. Their combined insights will give you state-of-the-art science with new tools to easily become and remain lean-for-life, energized, and disease-free. [52:19] Fat in a Cellular Level Every cell has a membrane and this membrane uses fat as integral part. Eating high fat food gives your body sufficient building blocks for building healthy cell membranes. [52:50] Restaurants and Their Oil Use Study shows a plate of french fries cooked in canola oil resulted to 132 days of membrane inflammation. Restaurants use cooking oils, such as canola and soybean oil, that easily oxidize and they don’t always change their cooking oils to cut down cost. These oils become deadlier as they get reused and get absorbed by the food you eat. [53:44] Consuming Healthy Oils As people develop healthier cell membranes, they can stay longer in the sun because they are now more able to form melanin. This prevents them from easily getting sun burnt and help them develop a tan instead. Even cells of other organs have cell membranes and they also need fat to form and function well. Food habit of consuming industrial seed and vegetable oil will contribute to the activation of bad genes. [55:16] Shopping for the Right Food Products Always read labels and check the ingredients of what you’re buying. If you’re not familiar with a word, search online what it is. “Generally Regarded As Safe” only means it won’t kill you quickly. [56:42] Exercise and Weight Loss “Exercise is a terrible approach to weight loss. If you’re goal is to lose weight, joining the gym is a waste of time and money.” Meaningful research show that exercising and moving more is a terrible strategy to lose fat. If you want to lose excess fat, change your diet. [58:00] Experts (PhDs, Scientists, Dietitians, Nutritionists, and Doctors) on Keto as a Fad Diet Most of today’s experts have the same thinking with doctors back in Dr. Weiss’ time who did not believe that handwashing was essential. They have a hard time accepting the truth or admitting that they are wrong. One of the many reasons may be losing part of their (online) following. Some may be afraid of losing they research support and funding. It is ignorance to think it’s possible to calculate one’s specific caloric needs through weight, height, and gender. Big corporations pay experts like them to convince the consumer that it’s alright to consume bad food items because they packed in small containers. Beware of people who promote “Eat more, move less”. [01:02:55] Patients Who Found Success in Keto The healthiest patients with the least chronic diseases are the ones who consume food products with the least amount of prohibited ingredients on the label. Eldest patient who passed away at 102 was in very good health, with an alert mind and a strong body. Majority of diet was made of vegetables and meat. Babies or kids who are fed by their parents with real whole foods did not develop eczema, allergies, and even acne. They consume one-ingredient food. [01:05:33] What Dr. Berry Is Most Excited About We’re close to the tipping point of having the low-carb keto carnivore diet as a norm now more than how where we were back in the 70s or 80s. Nurse Jackie Eberstein, who worked closely with Dr. Robert Atkins, is continuing to raise awareness about the Low-Carb Ketogenic Diet. Know more here. Perfect health, for him, is being strong enough to enjoy and play together with his great grand kids. AND MUCH MORE! Naomi Whittel | Ingredients to Activate Autophagy |Anti-Aging Secrets : KKP 33

Naomi Whittel | Ingredients to Activate Autophagy |Anti-Aging Secrets : KKP 33

Today, I am lucky to have here with me a wellness explorer, Mother, Wife, CEO, and someone who is insatiably curious about the healing power of the Earth’s most precious ingredients, Naomi Whittel.   The Real Skinny on Fat Docuseries: http://bit.ly/2kmITwE   Naomi Whittel is widely recognized as the one to watch in the “wellness from within” space. Named by Prevention the nation’s leading female innovator in the natural products industry, Naomi is hailed as a trailblazer and an advocate of purity and potency in nutraceuticals.   Naomi continues to deliver on her promise to help millions thrive with award-winning supplements they know will truly help them. A premier wellness partner for QVC, Naomi has also been recognized as one of the leading innovators in the natural products industry by Whole Foods Magazine in their exclusive “Who’s Who of Manufacturers and Suppliers.”   Her story and products have been lauded by The Wall Street Journal, Vogue, ELLE, Harper’s Bazaar, ABC News, PBS, InStyle, The View, The Doctors, Dr. Oz, SHAPE, Access Hollywood, Natural Solutions, Good Morning America, Today Show and more.   She is a steward of sustainability, a sought-after keynote speaker, and a member of the UN Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Naomi lives in Boca Raton, Florida with her husband and their four children.   In this episode, Naomi and I talked about the journey that led her to where she is today. First, Naomi reveals some health troubles she had growing up, which led her to try some alternative medicines. In the end, it had a damaging effect on her health. Then, Naomi explains the inspiration behind her book and docuseries while giving tips on antiaging and feeling our best. She also describes how she landed a rare interview with a Nobel Peace Prize winner. Tune in!   FREE KETO KICKSTART GUIDE: http://www.ketokickstartguide.com    The Real Skinny on Fat Docuseries: http://bit.ly/2kmITwE   [00:50] Naomi’s Previous Health Problems She spent her early childhood on an organic, biodynamic farm in Switzerland. Because her father is a chemist, he would teach Naomi about the essential elements needed as part of a health-promoting diet. Naomi suffered from debilitating eczema for which nothing seemed to work-not even traditional medicine. An acupuncturist provided her with a curative path through herbs and treatments. The symptoms of her eczema subsided over time. However, Naomi was confronted with dangerous levels of toxicity from heavy metals in the herbs she had ingested.   [08:11] The Queen of Autophagy Naomi travels all over to different parts of the world and sees the trends that will eventually make their way to the United States. She got into autophagy intuitively – she recognized that she had to be building or removing. Green juices helped Naomi to eliminate her toxic load.   [10:00] You Need to Start Eating Citrus Bergamont Naomi met with Dr. Elizabeth Janda, a researcher in Italy, opened Naomi’s eyes to this lifechanging fruit. Traditionally, the fruit is used to treat high cholesterol. Melitidin and brutieridin, discourage the production of LDL (“bad”) cholesterol while helping your body make HDL (“good”) cholesterol.   [12:55] Activating Autophagy You can activate autophagy through exercise, sleeping, different foods, and a specific type of mindset. You can read Naomi’s book about autophagy here: Glow15: A Science-Based Plan to Lose Weight, Revitalize Your Skin, and Invigorate Your Life   [15:15] Interviewing a Nobel Prize Winner Naomi landed a rare interview with Nobel Prize Winner, Dr. Yoshinori Ohsumi on autophagy. She cried tears of admiration after the interview because he is so humble. Ohsumi was malnourished as a child and dreamed of being a scientist. He created a whole body of work and research on autophagy.   [18:20] How Skincare Relates to Autophagy Naomi worked with a Richard C. Wang, a dermatologist, to determine how to activate autophagy in the skin. She brought him hundreds of ingredients. Dr. Wang discovered which ingredients would activate the autophagy: Caffeine Ceramides Polyphenols Trehalose Your skin is just a mirror of what is going on inside. Women in their 50’s may have skin that looks so much older because of the different fibers. Women have to become smart about activating autophagy in the skin to stay looking young.   [23:00] Antiaging Tips Learn how to activate cellular autophagy. It’s good for detoxing. Tap into your circadian rhythm. Teach your body to utilize good stress. Exercising can be a form of good stress. Autophagy loves good stress which has a massive antiaging effect.   [26:05] The Real Skinny on Fat Naomi interviewed over 80 experts for her docuseries The Real Skinny on Fat. Oz did a whole show on keto and showed parts of her docuseries. Some of the key points Naomi took out of it: We want to burn fat as our core fuel. 25% of the population can utilize carbohydrates effectively. For those who can’t, it’s better not to bother. Nuts are not the best way to get your fats because they aren’t the cleanest fuel. A lot of times, they are not gluten-free. We have the power to give our bodies exactly what we need; it’s not as complicated as we imagine. Naomi started by first interviewing Dr. Jeff Bland - Founder and Pioneer in Functional Medicine. She worked on the docuseries during the weekends and at night because of her full-time job. However, she still got all of the sleep she needed and ate a keto diet.   [35:45] Navigating Self-Limiting Beliefs Naomi started working on her belief system when she was 12 years old because of eczema. We have to nurture our brain by giving it our favorite foods and sleep. Our brains cleanse themselves while we are sleeping. At a young age, Naomi knew she could get away from negative thoughts by working on her subconscious mind. When she starts to hear negative thoughts, she uses affirmations. Naomi also uses neuro-linguistic programming.   [41:40] Whole Body Metabolism What we believe about metabolism is just a tiny fraction of what it is. Naomi’s next book will be about this very topic.     AND MUCH MORE!   Resources from this episode: Visit Naomi Whittel’s Website Connect with Naomi Whittel: Facebook Twitter YouTube Instagram Glow15: A Science-Based Plan to Lose Weight, Revitalize Your Skin, and Invigorate Your Life by Naomi Whittel Rare Interview with Nobel Prize Winner, Dr. Yoshinori Ohsumi on Autophagy The Real Skinny on Fat   Email me at ben@ketokamp.com Join the The Keto Kamp Inner Circle   This podcast is for information purposes only. What Fasting & Keto Does to The Brain | Key Nutrients to Stimulate Neurogenesis & BDNF – Ben Azadi: KKP 32

What Fasting & Keto Does to The Brain | Key Nutrients to Stimulate Neurogenesis & BDNF – Ben Azadi: KKP 32

On this episode of The Keto Kamp podcast we discuss the relationship between fasting, keto, and brain function.   You will be amazed when you discover how ketones and fasting super charge your brain top perform at a top level.   This episode is sponsored by my favorite olive oil, the Fresh Pressed Olive Oil Club. Try them for $1.00 www.ketokampolive.com    The 4 key foods to stimulate neurogenesis:   1) Blueberries. I have blueberries just about every single day, and I recommend it to my clients. Not only is it low in sugar compared to other fruits, it is also packed full of antioxidants. Blueberries act in so many ways to promote neurogenesis and protect the brain from cognitive decline.   Numerous studies show adding blueberries to the daily diet of mice increases neurogenesis significantly.   Casadesus, G., Shukitt-Hale, B., Stellwagen, H.M., et al. (Oct 2004). “Modulation of hippocampal plasticity and cognitive behavior by short-term blueberry supplementation in aged rats.” Nutritional Neuroscience. 7(5-6):309-16.   Acosta, S., Jernberg, J., Sanberg, C.D., Sanberg, P.R., Small, B.J., Gemma, C., Bickford, P.C. (Oct 2010). Rejuvenation Res. 13 (5):581-8. doi 10.1089/rej.1011. Epub 29 Jun 2010.   Joseph, J.A., Shukitt-Hale, B., Lau, F. C. “Fruit polyphenols and their effects on neuronal signaling and behavior in senescence.” Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences.   Consuming about 1 cup per day is the equivalent human portion that animal studies have suggested. Here’s a bonus tip, buy wild organic frozen blueberries. New research from South Dakota State University [https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2014/07/1 722124810.htm] suggests that frozen blueberries deliver a bigger dose of disease-fighting antioxidants than fresh. These antioxidants come from compounds called anthocyanins, which give blueberries their purple hue. The ice crystals that form when the berries are frozen disrupt the structure of the plant tissue and make anthocyanins more available. The anthocyanin dye, which causes the dark blue color, crosses the blood-brain barrier to stimulate neurogenesis. [Page 61]   Humans with cognitive decline showed improvements after consuming blueberries daily.   Devore. E. E., Kang, J.H., Bretellen, M. M., Grodstein, F. A. Doi: 10.3945/jn.109.108266. Epub 29 Jul 2099. Review.   Aside from increasing neurogenesis, blueberries allow better communication among neurons, something called signal transduction. [Page 62]   Studies have shown that blueberry extracts are as effective as fresh blueberries.[page 62] In most animal studies it’s the extract that is used. This makes daily blueberry intake possible for those who don’t have access to fresh blueberries. Life Extension makes a great blueberry extract product.   2) Omega 3s. Another neurogenesis superstar is the complex of omega-3 fatty acids, found in abundance in cold water fish, including wild Alaskin salmon, coho and sockeye salmon, black cod, sablefish, sardines, and herrings. Omega-3s have been shown to dramatically increase neurogenesis and BDNF Levels. [Page 62]   Neuroscience researcher Sandrine Thuret, Ph.D., of London’s Kings College, reported a 40% increase in neurogenesis by adding omega-3’s in Science Daily in 2007. Other studies have shown impressive results in neurogenesis, elevated BDNF levels, increased in brain size, and neuroprotective benefits from omega-3s.   Conklin, S.M., Gianaros, P.J., Brown, S.M., et al. (29 June 2007). “Long-chain omega-3 fatty acid intake is associated positively with corticolimbic gray matter volume in healthy adults.” Neuroscience Letters. 421(3):209-12   Beltz, B. S., Tlusty, M. F., Benton, J. L., Sandeman, D. C. (2007). “Omega-3 fatty acids up regulate adult neurogenesis.” Neurogenesis Letters.   Zainuddin, M. S. A., & Thuret, S. (2012). “Nutrition, adult and hippocampal neurogenesis and mental health.” British Medical Bulletien. 103, 1, p.89-114. DOI:10.1093/bmb/Ids021.   Our brains are made up of about 60% fat; this is where the term “fathead” came from. The next time someone calls you a fathead, say thank you. DHA, one of the most important of the omega-3s, constitutes about 30% of the brains cerebral cortex.   Jockers. D. (2012). “Is your brain getting enough of this nutrient?” NaturalNews.com. (11/05/2012).   When you consume high quality fats you are continuously rebuilding your brains’ cellular structure. Omega-3s are the highest quality fats for brain development.   3) Green Tea. Green tea contains polyphenols, the most powerful of which is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a type of catechin. Green tea’s polyphenols have been shown to increase neurogenesis, BDNF levels, and to have strong health benefits ranging from cancer prevention to fat loss, plus cardiovascular benefits, immunity improvement, and glucose reduction.   (Aug 2012). Molecular Nutrition & Food Research. 56(8):1292-303. doi: 10.1002/mnfr.201200035. Epub 13 Jun 2012.   Wang, Y., Li, M., Xu, X., Song, M., Tao, H., Bai, Y. “Green Tea epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) promises neural progenitor cell proliferation and sonic hedgehog pathway activation during adult hippocampal neurogenesis.”   Goepp, J. (Apr 2008). “New research on the benefits of green tea.” Life Extension.   Yoo, K.Y., Choi, J. H., Hwang, I. K., Lee, C. H., Lee, S. O., Han, S. M., Shin, H. C., Kang, I. J., Won, M. H. (July 2010). “Epigallocatechin-3-gallate increases cell proliferation and neuroblasts in the subgranular zone of the dentate gyrus in adult mice.” Phytotherapy Research. 24(7):1065-70. doi: 10.1002/ptr.3083.   Green tea has clear cognitive benefits and even improves working memory, which is one of the most difficult functions to increase.   Borgwardt, S., Hammann, F., Scheffler, K., Kreuter, M., Drewe, J., Beglinger, C. (Nov 2012). “Neural effects of green tea extract on dorsolateral prefrontal cortex. European Journal of Clinical Nutrition. 66(11):1187-92.   Look for extracts standardized to at least 40% polyphenols, or even better, 98% polyphenols with 75% catechin and 45% ECGC.   [Page 65]   Keep in mind that green tea does have caffeine, so ideally you want to have it before 2pm, any later may interfere with quality of sleep.   4. Circumin. Circumin provides the yellow color in the curry spice turmeric. It has strong neurogenic effects. In addition it is a powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compound. Aging populations who consume circumin show better cognitive performance.   Kim, S.K., Son, T. G., Park, H. R., Park, M., Kim, M. S., Kim, H. S., Chung, H. Y., Mattson, M. P., Lee, J. (23 May 2008). “Circumin stimulates proliferation of embryonic neural progenitor cells and neurogenesis in the adult hippocampus.” Journal of Biological Chemistry. 283(21):14497-505. doi: 10.1074/jbc.M708373200. Epub 26 Jul 2006.   Circumin is notoriously known to be poorly absorbed; you can enhance it by adding it to fat and/or adding piperine (black pepper extract). // R E S O U R C E S   Thomas DeLauer's YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheTdelauer   Head Strong by Dave Asprey: https://amzn.to/2kyBafb    Exercise & Then Brain by John Ratey: https://amzn.to/2kyWv8g    The Neurogenesis Diet & Lifestyle by Brant Cortright:  https://amzn.to/2lSpfJq     TEDx Talk by Mark Mattson on Fasting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UkZAwKoCP8   My Favorite Blueberry Extract Supplement:  https://amzn.to/2kgfowm     Pique Green Tea: https://amzn.to/2kL9nrF     Get my FREE Keto Kickstart Guide: http://www.ketokickstartguide.com   YouTube Channel: www.youtube.com/ketokamp    This podcast is for information purposes only. How Dr. Nick Jensen & Dr. David Wardy gained a passion for health when they faced pain in their lives.   16:30 Hidden stressors that cause your bucket to overflow, triggering bad genes like autoimmune disease. There's over 100 confirmed autoimmune diseases, with an additional 40 that are related. Hidden stressors are the root cause of many of these auto immune diseases.    21:40 All disease begins in the gut. The importance of digestive health. When you have leaky gut, undigested food particles enter the blood stream. This triggers an immune response from the body. In acute situations, the body is well equipped to handle this. The problem occurs in chronic situations. This leads to many diseases, including autoimmune.    25:50 Gluten & leaky gut. Gluten is one of the biggest culprits when it comes to leaky gut. The problem with gluten is the way its bread in this day and age. Gluten can "poke holes" in your digestive system, creating inflammation and autoimmune disease.   31:24 Brain fog & medication. Its a common side effect to have brain fog when taking medications because the body becomes overloaded with toxins and depleted of nutrients.    37:00 Dr. Nick Jensen & Dr. David Wardy's definition of perfect health.    // R E S O U R C E S   Learn more about Dr. Nick Jensen: https://divineelements.ca/   Learn more about Dr. David Wardy: https://www.wardywellnesschiro.com/   The Doctor Dad's Podcast: https://thedoctordads.podbean.com/   Email me at ben@ketokamp.com Join the The Keto Kamp Inner Circle   Get your hands on the world's healthiest coffee beans: http://www.ketokampcoffee.com   This podcast is for information purposes only.
