[00:50] How Dr. Jensen Went From Being Victimized By Her life To Feeling Empowered At age 13, Dr. Jensen didn't have a lot of control. She did not feel free to be herself or think the way she wanted to think and express that fully. At the moment, Dr. Jensen was crying and crying. Earlier in the day, Dr. Jensen’s mother had read her journal. Sadly, Dr. Jensen started to recognize that nothing was hers. Her mind, her body, and her thoughts were not hers. Jensen found a safety pin and carved “I hate life” into her arm. All of a sudden, something shifted; Dr. Jensen realized that she didn’t need to be a victim. Around 18 to 19 weeks, the auditory system is there and is trying to figure out what the world will be like when we're outside of the womb. Plus, we're getting information from all the hormones that our mother is secreting. Our brains are all developed for survival. If we don't fit into the tribe that we're moving into, it will be really hard to survive. The brain and the body are so smart that they're going to mold themselves to fit in. Our womb and our uterus is a space that's supposed to be for creativity, for abundance. However, with past trauma, our bodies can suffer. Your reactions today are really from a subconscious imprint from before. [12:30] The Reasons We Create Stories & How To Create Stories That Will Better Serve You There are different reasons why we create stories. We create a story in the womb to help us survive the environment we're going in. Stories are beautiful; they hold tradition and culture. Plus, stories can be amazing learning opportunities. Also, stories are influencing how we navigate our world, what we believe about ourselves, and the lens that we put on when we perceive the world around us. When we're trapped in the story that we've created to survive, we're not really connected to our own center and our own soul’s story. [16:25] The Tools That Dr. Jensen Loves To Use & How You Can Apply These Tools Today Yoga and meditation for Dr. Jensen was a lifesaver. Yoga doesn't have to be buying a yoga mat and doing a yoga class. Instead, yoga could be connecting with nature, it could be cooking a meal, and feeling completely connected with yourself. Physical yoga creates these movements in our body that we don't normally do. Plus, it creates this awakening and certain nerve endings and connections between organs and our breath. It starts to repattern our brain to think differently. Often, we're stuck in our mind, and we're operating from our mind. However, yoga can bring you back to your heart. [21:45] The Most Common Symptom That Women Deal With On A Daily Basis The most common symptom that Dr. Jensen treats is anxiety. There's usually an event that's created that anxiety, there is perception, there's a belief, and then that turns into deficiencies in our hormones. When a woman has anxiety, her gut system is also not working as well. Women need to understand where the anxiety is coming from and that it's not who she is. When we're thriving off of that stress, the anxieties show up, the gut issues show up, the inability to be very intimate shows up. [27:20] The Most Significant Lesson That Dr. Jensen Learned From Writing Her First Book The healing never stops. There is always another layer to your healing journey. Also, there is never one answer for all of us. Lastly, healing is a journey, and we don't have to get there right away. [29:35] How To Navigate Keto So You Can Have A Healthier Monthly Cycle Variation is key if you have a heavy menstrual cycle. For the first two weeks of your cycle, you can go heavy with keto. The last two weeks, you want to up your healthy carbs. You can also use seeds. Eat pumpkin and flax seeds the first two weeks of your cycle. Green tea can also be helpful for heavy periods. Today’s episode might be a little bit different than all of the previous ones. Still, it is as insightful as ever, especially because I am joined by the mastermind behind the Keto Kamp movement. I am humbled to be joined by Sean Croxton, a podcast host, author, entrepreneur, and prosperity teacher. I followed his growth and career for the past 8 years, most especially when he still hosts the Underground Wellness Radio, one of the internet’s most popular health podcasts.   During his seven years with Underground Wellness, Sean penned the still-popular Dark Side of Fat Loss ebook, started the JERF (Just Eat Real Food) movement, and hosted seven online summit events, including The Thyroid Sessions, Digestion Sessions, and The Depression Sessions.   Now, Sean is the host of The Quote of The Day Show, the #1 daily motivational podcast, featuring short inspirational teachings from the best of the best speakers. He is also the creator of Money Mind Academy, an 8-week course that will completely change your relationship with money.   In this episode, Sean shares the story of how his hardwork and determination got him to where he is today. He also explained the science behind developing a habit while we dive deep into physiology, neurocardiology, brain chemistry and how it is connected with your keto diet and fasting. Tune in! In this episode, you'll discover:   [00:55] Sean Croxton, the early years Sean’s mother worked three jobs. By the time he wakes up in the morning, his mom is already at work. When he goes to bed at night, his mom is still at work.  “If I didn’t have that experience of living at the poverty line, I probably wouldn’t have the value that I have on abundance.” His early years was a great learning experience for him. It showed him the value of earning money.  It showed him the freedom of earning money. It showed him that in order to have more money, you gotta do more service.   [8:18] The audio clip that helped changed Sean’s life  In November of 2009, his friend, Antonio, sent him an audio clip of John Demartini. “The amount of money that you have will always be in direct proportion to the quality and quantity of the service you provide.”   [17:10] After graduating from college, Sean became a personal trainer. His uncle and his aunt were his biggest influences on why he took health in college.  As a personal trainer, Sean had to build up the courage to talk to people when suffering with social anxiety. He had his first panic attack while doing some personal training. His doctor prescribed him Prozac but what he really wanted was Paxil. While training his last client, he found himself in the midst of a “Prozac-induced” panic attack. His social anxiety isn't completely gone and Sean's ok with that. He prefers to call it introversion. [22:32] Back in 2008, Sean launched his first show, Underground Wellness Radio. The podcast ran for 7 years and he released 348 episodes over this period of time. Surprising to most, in 2015 Sean closed up shop with his brand Underground Wellness. “Passions have seasons, and all seasons eventually come to an end.” - Lisa Nichols Sean felt that his passion for interviewing health experts is over.    [26:08] The importance of passion and loving what you do for a living If you are not living according to your highest values, it means you are not really living.  You are living by social idealisms. You are living by something outside of you. Life is too short for that. There’s a little brain inside our hearts that stores information, memories, personalities, etc. Our hearts are our point of attraction.  Heart rate variability is the physiological phenomenon of variation in the time interval between heartbeats. We don’t want these to be to low. Sleep deprivation is such a chronic condition these days that you might not even realize you suffer from it. Science has now established that a sleep deficit can have serious effects on your health.   For example, interrupted or impaired sleep can: Dramatically weaken your immune system Accelerate tumor growth—tumors grow two to three times faster in laboratory animals with severe sleep dysfunctions Cause a pre-diabetic state, making you feel hungry even if you’ve already eaten, which can wreak havoc on your weight Seriously impair your memory; even a single night of poor sleep—meaning sleeping only 4 to 6 hours—can impact your ability to think clearly the next day Impair your performance on physical or mental tasks, and decrease your problem solving ability 06:12 Most fat burning takes place during stage 4 sleep. A general answer is that most people should be getting autophagy at the 16 hour fasting mark. 12:30 Dr. Thomas Seyfried saw cancerous tumors shrink before his eyes when his patients achieved maximum autophagy during a block fast. Here is how you test for max autophagy; take your blood glucose, divide by 18, and compare to your blood ketones. If you have a 1:1 ratio or higher, you are in max autophagy. 14:47 Achieve 3x the autophagy with a dry fast. This is extreme so work with a health practitioner.  15:15 Exercise increases autophagy. One out of every three Americans is diagnosed with cancer. So, it is very important to learn how to cope and deal with it. If you or any of your loved have ever been affected by cancer, this is going to be the episode you’re gonna want to listen. In this episode, I am joined by a world leader in cancer research and the author of The Metabolic Approach to Cancer, Dr. Nasha Winters. I’m thrilled to have Dr. Nasha on to bring us wisdom and tips in navigating the cancer terrain. Dr. Nasha Winters speaks from experience when she talks about Cancer and how to be proactive in preventing and/or combating it. Her first experience with cancer was at the age of 19. She was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer and given only a few months to live. Determine to get well, she discovered the life changes that would turn it around. She immersed herself in chemistry and biology and became her own savior. Her book, The Metabolic Approach to Cancer, stems from her nearly three decades of personal and professional experience in the field of integrative oncology. Dr. Nasha is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor (ND) and a Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology (FABNO). She is a global healthcare authority in integrative cancer research. Dr. Nasha is a sought-after speaker and consults with physicians worldwide. This episode is all about cancer and we dig deep as to why this disease is happening. In this episode, you'll discover:   [4:24] Dr. Nasha’s first experience with cancer At the age of 19, Dr. Nasha was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer. She was given 3 to 6 months to live, even with treatment. She was filled with ascites, metastatic lesions, crippled in extreme pain and nausea, had infections simmering, severe malnourishment, and muscle wasting. Her doctors told her that chemo and surgery wouldn’t help her advanced cancer. The diagnosis of terminal cancer suddenly shook her awake and asked her point-blank if she wanted to live or die. It had taken countless doctors over six months to stop making assumptions and defaulting to writing scripts from A (anxiolytics) to Z (Zithromax).  Dr. Nasha was forced to explore alternative methods. Luckily, she was blessed with an ER doctor who allowed her the time to share the chronology of her symptoms and truly listen. In the last 6 months, Dr. Nasha have seen 5 girls under the age of 10 with Stage IV Ovarian cancer.  Dr. Nasha acknowledges that her past experiences of significant trauma and abuse contributed to her illness.   [17:42] What is The Gerson Therapy? The Gerson Therapy was popularized in the 1940s by Dr. Charlotte Gerson. Dr. Gerson had amazing experience of solving all kinds of oncology situations by putting people on a very vegetable-densed high potassium, low sodium chloride diet.  The key parts of the Gerson therapy are a strict diet, dietary supplements, and enemas.   [24:12] Sharing authentically is very powerful for healing the body.  The theory that changing mental state can affect the course of cancer has been popularized by authors such as Bernie Siegel and Deepak Chopra.  A support group program called Exceptional Cancer Patients (ECap) developed by Dr. Siegel found that women with breast cancer has a higher chance of survival rate when they are part of a support group. Take The ACE Quiz - According to the Adverse Childhood Experiences study, the rougher your childhood, the higher your score is likely to be and the higher your risk for later health problems.   [27:45] The Cancer Experience Having been diagnosed with cancer felt a very dirty secret for Dr. Nasha. The first person that she has told about her diagnosis then is now her husband.  The hardest thing when you are dealing with a cancer diagnosis is the well-meaning advice and wishes of the people in your circle.  You could take every perfect supplement. You could be in perfect metabolic flexibility. You can have an incredibly immaculate clean environment. But, if you are not dealing with the emotional healing within yourselves, you are not gonna get very far. You are not gonna get the outcomes you are hoping to achieve. People have to come to it when they are ready. Check out this resource from Dr. Nasha: 5 Steps to Take After a Cancer Diagnosis   [34:38] Top tools to heal your body At 16, Dr. Nasha decided to become a ‘vegetarian’.  A Chinese medical practitioner looked at her tongue and told her, “You have to eat some animal food.” TEST. ASSESS. ADDRESS. Adjust accordingly. Consistently do your labs. Do not guess. Do not compare.  Dr. Nasha advices people diagnosed with cancer to not tell everybody in the beginning. When you tell your loved ones, you deal with their reactions and you don’t get the opportunity to work on your own. [41:28] Issue with eating every two to three hours When we eat that often, we don’t give ourselves the bowel rest we need so that everything can clear up and evacuate. You have to give that window of autophagy to take out the garbage. Somewhere between 12 to 72 hours (depending on the person and situation), that’s what it’ll take to get some autophagy.  If you fast 13 hours a day and you are eating clean and relatively low carb, you will shift into some moderate autophagy.  When you are dealing with cancer, you’d want to moderate or lower your protein to avoid clicking on the mTOR pathways.  Kick-up your fats and restrict your carbohydrates to stay off the insulin growth factor aspect.  Bring in some intermittent fasting.  13 hours everyday, 16 to 18 hours twice a week, 3 days a month of fasting.  Walk towards to water fasting.  If you feel hungry, drink water. If after 15 minutes, you are still hungry, have a teaspon of coconut oil. After 15 minutes again, have a little bit of protein. If you are still hungry after that, eat a piece of fruit.  Hunger is more psychological than physical.    [47:30] Tips for people who are recovering from surgery  Understand why did we get here. We can’t completely heal and stay healed in the soil in which we got sick. Learn about The Terrain Ten, Dr. Winters’s cancer program for achieving optimal health See a prostate specialist to have a look for infectious agents.  Do some basic good laboratory assessment. Rule of thumb specific for prostate cancer only:  Avoid poultry skin and dairy. If you want dairy, take occasional heavy sour cream.  Quality is key. We don’t want extras because extras are all cancer drivers. Avoid red meat especially if you have the ACSL1.  Monitor both free and total PSA and PAP. Get a BIOCEPT prostate profile and circulating tumor cell count enumeration.   [52:36] Fasting, Keto and Skin Cancer: Myths and Facts All of us could benefit from a lower carbohydrate diet and higher plant intake diet.  Sugar drives the viral process. Melanoma is not a skin cancer. It is a systemic cancer. It is one of the cancers that the Gerson Diet does a pretty good job with.  Low carb diet to vegetarian diet Apply soap to pits and parts. Do not damage the absorption process of your skin.  Get a good bath every two weeks.  Skin tags are blood sugars. If you see skin tags, you are looking at diabetes.  [60:00] Test. Assess. Address. Dr. Nasha encourages everyone to run at least annually a complete metabolic panel (CMP),  complete blood count (CBC), neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and Lactic Acid Dehydrogenase (LDH) Test. Awareness is the first step. Make sure you vitamin D levels are above 50, if you are not dealing with a chronic illness. Even though an LDH test is useful in diagnosing tissue damage, other tests are usually necessary to pinpoint the location of the damage. One such test is called the LDH isoenzymes test. LDH isoenzymes are five kinds of the LDH enzyme that are found in specific concentrations in different organs and tissues.    [68:00]  What is The BRCA gene? The name “BRCA” is an abbreviation for “BReast CAncer gene.” BRCA1 and BRCA2 are two different genes that have been found to impact a person’s chances of developing breast cancer. When a BRCA gene is mutated, it may no longer be effective at repairing broken DNA and helping to prevent breast cancer. Because of this, people with a BRCA gene mutation are more likely to develop breast cancer, and more likely to develop cancer at a younger age.
