Close your eyes and focus on you, Tap into your inner joy.   PAUSE… It can feel like that joy is missing, But deep down, you know it’s there. It may be buried beneath other things, But its light burns bright behind the scenes.   PAUSE… Life often tries to cover it up, Whether on purpose or by circumstance. So many emotions pile on top, Making us forget it’s a part of us.   PAUSE… You don’t have to let that illusion stand, Don’t have to let the happy memories fade. Instead, there are ways to reignite that joy, To let it wash over you regularly.   PAUSE… One of the best ways to make that happen Is to set your spirit free. Remember how much it loves to dance, And make space in your mind for the party.   PAUSE… Picture yourself really letting loose, Twirling merrily and showing off. Rattle the rafters and shake the walls, As you shimmy for all you’re worth.   PAUSE… The music you hear can be anything, Whatever sets your soul on fire. See yourself dressed in bright, flowy clothes, Spinning, smiling and moving.   PAUSE… Throw back your head and kick up those heels, Feel the elation flow through your body. Whether you dance in your mind or out in the world, The thrill can be just the same.   PAUSE… The key is to make it a habit, To regularly seek out delight. Let the YOU within stay in touch with bliss, And the outer YOU will benefit too.   PAUSE… Once your heart gets a taste of that abandon, You’ll find yourself looking for more. Moments that once felt ordinary, Will start to glow with possibility. PAUSE… It’s crazy how easily we surrender to the darkness, How quickly we forget what we need. It takes effort and true dedication To stay in touch with our authenticity.   PAUSE… When you dance, you’re as honest as you can be, Moving as one with your truth. So wobble, baby, wobble for all you’re worth, And then explore whatever shakes loose.   PAUSE… There’s no such thing as too much joy, And in fact, we’re often deficient. The sooner you take steps to turn that around, The sooner music can fill you up.   PAUSE… Give yourself the pleasure you need. Ignore the voices that try to stop you. Look for the bright spots, no matter how few, And sink into their warmth once again.   PAUSE… Notice what those moments have in common, Notice what they brought out in you. Remember how strong or joyful you felt, Pull those feelings deep into your heart.   PAUSE… Such moments don’t have to be rare in life, Nor must they be hard to find. If you created them once, you can do it again, The power lies within you.   PAUSE… The first step is to believe it, To truly know your strength. To understand the role you play In getting what you need. Breathe in slowly, feel that strength wrap its energy around you. Exhale deeply and release what’s in your way.   LONG PAUSE… Think about when you last felt at peace, In sync with everything in your midst. Picture the source of your contentment, Conjure its image anew. PAUSE… Perhaps you were on vacation, Away from duties and cares, Finding joy on the open water, Or nested in a majestic forest.   PAUSE… Maybe you were with family, The people who know and love you best. Or friends who always make you laugh, Who sense exactly what you need.   PAUSE… Maybe you were having an adventure, Exploring the world’s delights. Breathing in history and eating good food, Making this gorgeous planet your own.   PAUSE… Within those memories, there are details, Bright recollections like firefly trails. Those are the moments that changed you, That showed you how high you could fly.   Inhale as you imagine your spirit rising, floating in a sky full of potential. Exhale and picture yourself changing, feel your heart and mind expand.   LONG PAUSE… Now that you’re in touch with what moves you, With the bliss that makes life worthwhile, Use that happiness as a road map, As a way to light up the mundane. PAUSE… We can enjoy the things we must do, Nearly as much as doing what we choose, If we let ourselves glimpse the sacred in both, And remember that each one feeds the other. PAUSE… The ordinary can be beautiful, When carried out with purpose. If you paint each moment with its own tiny brush, The splendor is free to emerge. PAUSE… With practice, your vision begins to change. Your outer view softens and shifts. Soon you realize how little distance exists In the space between effort and ease.   PAUSE… Toil asks less when it is meaningful, Since purpose lightens the load. A lighter heart finds lighter paths, And leaves the darkness to sputter in its wake. PAUSE… Sink deeper into your peaceful place, Let your soul dance through your dreams. As your rest your body and silence your mind, New possibilities have room to emerge.   Take a deep and certain breath, knowing the shift has begun. Exhale that breath and feel the hope, a better tomorrow on the horizon. LONG PAUSE… Though the process may seem out of reach, In truth, you create your life from scratch. Those details will fade away, And allow you to realign.  So focus on your body, Your face, your arms, your chest.  Let your legs get heavy now, So all of you can rest.  PAUSE… Surf the gentle waves, Of air going in and out. Expanding your belly, Calming you throughout.  PAUSE… Now if you are open, To the wisdom waiting for you. Your health and your people, Shine with loving resolve.  PAUSE… Gratitude pours in, For all you have that’s good. Gratitude clears out, The stress of all the shoulds. So settle into your bed, positioning yourself as comfortably as you can on your back. Take a moment to cover yourself in your blankets if you like,  And then allow yourself to simply lay still for a few moments, As your attention shifts from all the outside noise of the day, To the calm inside your breath. PAUSE… Feel your body relaxing further with every breath, As the warmth of your soft bed pulls you in deeper, Deeper, Deeper.  PAUSE… Now slowly bring your attention to your arms, And slowly extend and stretch them in any direction that feels comfortable for you. Stretching them long as you feel your muscles expand, holding it for just a moment. And then release the stretch,  Allowing your arms to settle deeper into comfort. PAUSE… Now bring your attention to your neck, And slowly drop your head to one side, feeling the stretch on the side of your neck as you do. Breathe into the stretch, staying with the pull of the muscles, And release. Drop your head to the other side, stretching the other side of your neck, Imagine that muscle stretching and relieving any pain or tension it does, And then release,  Bringing your head and your neck back into a deeply relaxed and comfortable position. PAUSE… Now let your attention fall upon your face, As you open your mouth wide, stretching out the muscles in your cheeks, mouth and forehead. Keep expanding the stretch, feeling the muscles release the weight of the day, And then release,  Relaxing your forehead, face, cheeks and mouth,  As they melt into your pillow.  PAUSE… Now for the last stretch, reach your hands up above your head and stretch your legs out as far as you can, Pointing your toes and opening your fingers,  Imagining your body being pulled from the top and bottom as your body expands. Feel the stretch align your spine, And release any pieces of stress or tension stored in your body. And release,  Feeling the rush of calmness in your body, As you allow yourself to now settle into your favorite sleeping position. PAUSE… Breathe. If there’s any more tension or pain in your body, Breathe it out through your exhale.  And then surrender further into the comfort of your bed. Breathe and release. Breathe and relax. Your ego is reacting, It feels threatened somehow. It’s time to observe what’s beneath. Let your breath come in, And bring you to the now, And remind you that you are okay. There’s nothing to fear, And you are enough, It’s simply a chance to survey. PAUSE… Let your body melt, And release the tension you feel, Exhale all the stress and the pain. Relax your face, Your arms and your legs, And see if you can calm down your brain. LONG PAUSE… What lies beneath, The ego that flares, With frustration or anger or blame? Maybe some fear, That you’re not good enough? Maybe some sadness or shame? PAUSE… Without any judgment, With mountains of grace, Take time to explore what’s below. What you find in the shadows, May be a surprise, Or it may be something you know.  LONG PAUSE… Follow the path, To the point of the pain, That caused your ego to scream. Embrace it with love, With forgiveness and hope, And observe as it releases its steam. PAUSE… Your brave choice to look, Beyond what occurred, And see what triggered within you, Ensures you’ll transcend, The root cause that’s here, Dissolving its power from view. PAUSE… Let your breath come in, And bring you to the now, And remind you that you are okay. There’s nothing to fear, And you are enough, Let your soul light the way. Time to clear your mind, And surrender your body to pools of deep relaxation. So invite yourself to snuggle in, Gently moving into your most favorite position. Allow yourself a moment to stretch or move to relieve any kinks or tension in your body. PAUSE… And then take a full, deep breath in, Inhaling the night’s air deep into your lungs, And then exhale,  Melting deeper into this special spot.   PAUSE… Concentrate on your breathing, Inviting your mind to hold its attention  On the rhythmic movement of air in and out of your nose.  PAUSE… Breathe in, Breathe out. PAUSE… Slow your body down with every breath, Even if your mind speeds up. Just stay with your breath, And slow it all down. LONG PAUSE... Now bring your attention to the top of your head, Imagining a soft lavender light hovering just above it. PAUSE… Feel the comforting warmth of this lavender light, And its calming energy relaxing your head completely. PAUSE… Feel it quiet everything inside. Feel it deeply relax your eyes, Soften your cheeks, Release your jaw, Soften your mouth, And relieve your neck.  LONG PAUSE… Notice as the soft, lavender light travels down, Wrapping its soothing energy around your shoulders, Your right arm, Your left arm, Your hands.  PAUSE… Notice the soft hum of sleep it spreads here, And then feel your shoulders drop, Your right arm and your left arm melt, And your hands soften and relax, LONG PAUSE… The soothing lavender light now settles onto your chest, Relaxes your belly, And slowly cascades down your back,  Following your spine from your neck, All the way down to your lower back. Relaxing and releasing, Relaxing and releasing. LONG PAUSE… Invite the calming energy of the soft, lavender light to spread into your hips, Down into your thighs, And circling around your left leg, And now your right leg. PAUSE... Watch it spiral all the way down into your right foot, And then your left foot. And then covering your toes, One by one. LONG PAUSE… Breathe deeply, And feel yourself wrapped lovingly in the soothing, Lavender light of the night. PAUSE… Let it heal you, Let it cleanse you, Let it relieve your body of all the tension it carries. Let it relieve your mind of all the thoughts inside.  PAUSE… Feel it wrap you in the warmth of love, And safely guide you through the night. In and out, Receiving and giving, Expanding and contracting.  Follow this slow dance of air, In its circular, calming rhythm.  LONG PAUSE… See if you can notice the thoughts popping up, Dancing and swirling and bright with promises, Begging for your attention.  PAUSE... Just notice them, And imagine yourself slowly bowing your head, Breathing deeply,  And instead come inside to your breath. PAUSE… Over and over again, Choose your breath, And feel it anchor you. Root yourself deeply in the truth of your soul, The knowing that you are whole, You are magic, And you are infinite rays of love. PAUSE… Let those thoughts dissolve, Let their hold on you release. As you come here, Deep into YOU. Your mind open, And clear.
