#183. Boundaries Are Sexy: How to Stop People-Pleasing (So You Don’t Burn Out)

#183. Boundaries Are Sexy: How to Stop People-Pleasing (So You Don’t Burn Out)

“Busy” has become a status symbol—but for many women, it’s also a direct path to depletion. In this episode of Two B’s in a Pod, Binu and Brenda unpack why “busy” can feel triggering, how social media creates the illusion of a nonstop life, and why boundaries aren’t selfish—they’re self-honouring. If you’ve been craving more space, calm, and permission to choose what actually feels good, this conversation is for you.

We get really honest about how “busy” has become a weird badge of honour in our culture… and how it often carries an emotional charge (especially for women who’ve lived through stress, burnout, or seasons of over giving). We talk about the difference between a full calendar and a fulfilling life, and how people can misunderstand your reality—especially when they’re only seeing you through the highlight reel of Instagram.

We also zoom out to the bigger picture: burnout in the workforce, the “invisible workload,” and how women are often conditioned to say yes, carry more, and feel guilty when they choose themselves.

Personal boundaries are necessary, even “sexy”, and aren’t built overnight—they’re built through awareness, trial and error, and paying attention to your own patterns.

In this episode, we talk about:

Why “busy” can feel triggering (and what to say instead)

Social media distortion: why your life can look nonstop when it isn’t

“Busy” as a badge of honour—and the cost women pay for it

Boundaries as a skill: space between calls, protecting mornings, honouring energy

The hidden clue: depletion-driven cravings and numbing habits

“Boundaries are sexy” (and why seeing other women set them helps us set ours)

The holiday reminder: self-honouring creates a happier December 31st
