The Person in the Empty House | Real Ghost Stories

From her first apartment after college, she had a clear view of an older house sitting behind the building. It wasn't particularly interesting. Just another part of the neighborhood she'd glance at from time to time.

Then she started noticing someone in one of the upstairs windows. Not every day. Not even every week. Just often enough that the figure became oddly familiar.

At first, she never questioned it. Houses have people in them. Windows have people standing near them. Nothing about it seemed unusual.

Until a casual conversation with a neighbor revealed that the house wasn't occupied at all.

What followed wasn't a dramatic haunting or a terrifying encounter. It was something quieter—and perhaps more unsettling. A mystery that appeared a few times, offered no explanation, and then vanished as suddenly as it began.

Years later, she still wonders who—or what—she was seeing in that upstairs room.
