The Monster of Florence: Italy’s Unsolved Serial Killer Part 1 | Horror Whiskey Company | EP. 82

For 17 years, couples parked in the hills outside Florence, Italy were hunted by a killer who was never definitively identified.Known as the **Monster of Florence**, the killer targeted couples in secluded areas, murdered them with the same .22 caliber pistol, and in several cases mutilated the female victims. Depending on who you ask, the Monster may have been responsible for 14—or 16—murders.But the killings are only part of what makes this case so insane. In Part 1, Jamie and Peter dig into the culture of 1960s–1980s Italy that created the perfect hunting ground for the killer, the strange community of voyeurs lurking around Florence's secluded roads, the mysterious gun connecting murders years apart, multiple suspects who were arrested while the real killer apparently continued murdering, and the bizarre similarities between the Monster of Florence and the Zodiac Killer. We follow the case from the mysterious 1968 double murder through the Monster's final known killings in September 1985—and the horrifying message he allegedly sent investigators afterward. And somehow, the investigation is about to get even crazier.**Part 2:** The suspects, controversial convictions, alleged satanic cult, accusations of planted evidence, and the decades of chaos that followed the murders.⚠️ **CONTENT WARNING:** This episode discusses murder, sexual violence, and graphic postmortem mutilation. Listener discretion is strongly advised.🥃 Welcome to Horror Whiskey Company — horror, true crime, booze, and two idiots trying to make sense of the darkest stories we can find.Subscribe for new episodes and clips every week.#MonsterOfFlorence #TrueCrime #UnsolvedMysteries #SerialKiller #HorrorWhiskey00:00 The Monster of Florence01:40 Why Italy Created the Perfect Hunting Ground08:52 What Are We Drinking?11:03 The Voyeurs in the Hills of Florence19:36 The 1968 Double Murder27:12 The Zodiac Killer Connection29:35 The 1974 Murders32:54 The Monster Returns in 198133:24 The Ballistics Breakthrough34:51 How “Il Mostro” Got His Name40:41 Another Couple Is Murdered45:40 The 1982 Murders48:45 The Mysterious Letter to Police51:05 The 1968 Gun Changes Everything59:07 Police Arrest the “Monster”59:20 The 1983 Camper Murders1:02:34 The 1984 Murders1:05:03 Profiling the Monster1:10:58 The Final Murders — 19851:13:14 The Killer Sends a Horrifying Message1:14:20 A New Clue 35 Years Later1:16:00 Could He Be the Zodiac Killer?1:21:37 The Investigation’s Massive Mistake1:23:13 17 Years of Murder — Where the Case Stands1:24:10 What’s Coming in Part 2
