While staying connected to others is important, alone time is an essential part of mental health and emotional wellness. And while there are people who like to be alone, others aren’t huge fans of being in their own company. Nonetheless, everyone needs to retreat from time to time. Sure, it’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of life and forget about the importance of self care and self love. Plus, it’s not like we can all go off into the woods and meditate for a week whenever we need to unplug from our phones, jobs, and families. But what IS possible is making sure you carve out some “me time” regularly where you can spend time alone with no distractions. To some people, this may sound scary at first. But even if you don’t like being alone, you can greatly benefit from doing so. So learn to recognize the need for spending time alone and be sure to make the most of it.
