Ep.11: Growing the game, protecting stars, and more with Kris Versteeg

Kick your week off with a new episode of The DFO Rundown with Jason Gregor and Frank Seravalli! Today on the pod, Frank started things off by ranting about the NHL's current schedule and how he's sick of seeing the same teams over and over again. Should the NHL find a way to keep more rivalry games in the schedule going forward? Or do they need to get back to the old format ASAP? They also touched on the Nikita Kucherov situation before getting to their guest this week, former NHLer Kris Versteeg.

Versteeg brought the heat today on the pod. He started by talking about the comments that he made on Saturday night about Connor McDavid and the NHL's inability to protect its stars. He also talked about what the league needs to do to grow the game more. Versteeg, or 'Ver-Beauty' as he's also known, also talked about his career, his time as a defenseman, playing with Patrick Kane and more! We ended our chat with Versteeg by hitting him with some hard questions in a fresh round of 'Rapid Fire'.

Ep. 2: Kevin Weekes on diversity in hockey, interviewing for GM jobs, and goaltending

Episode two of the podcast features a great interview with Kevin Weekes of the NHL Network! He joined Jason Gregor & Frank Seravalli around the 9 minute mark to talk about interviewing for the Pittsburgh Penguins GM job, diversity in hockey, and how being a young goaltender is different now compared to when he was growing up. Weekes gave some great insight and shared his thoughts on how the NHL and hockey in general can become more inclusive and accepting. On top of that, Gregor and Seravalli talked about some big stories from around the league like the impressive run that the Chicago Blackhawks have put together, the drama in Columbus, and what changes could be coming in Anahiem. The red-hot Bruins, the struggling Canucks, and a chat with Paul Maurice

The red-hot Bruins, the struggling Canucks, and a chat with Paul Maurice

The first-ever episode of 'The DFO Rundown' with Frank Seravalli & Jason Gregor is live! Today, the guys started the show by talking about how they enjoyed Super Bowl Sunday before getting into some big stories from around the NHL. Both Jason and Frank were very wrong about the Boston Bruins, who have just one regulation loss so far this season. The two talked about why they thought the Bruins would take a step back and what's allowed them to not miss a beat despite losing some key players in the offseason. They also took a quick trip across Canada to touch on some hot topics in Vancouver, Edmonton, and Montreal before welcoming in their first-ever guest, Winnipeg Jets Head Coach Paul Maurice! With Paul, they talked about the Jets' addition of Pierre-Luc Dubois, coaching during the pandemic, and how the Jets organization uses and values analytics. Maurice also touched on his relationship with Jim Rutherford and played a game of 'Rapidfire' with Frank! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
