Ep. 2049 Nino Mason Carta, Silvio Carta  | Wine, Food & Travel With Marc Millon

Welcome to episode 2049 of the Italian Wine Podcast, Wine, Food & Travel With Marc Millon. Today, he is interviewing Nino Mason Carta of Slivio Carta winery The winery is awarded the Best White Wine 2024 Trophy for Vernaccia di Oristano Doc Riserva 2004 of 5StarWines – the Book wine selection in 2024 More about today’s guest: Nino Mason Carta, the third-generation winemaker and distiller, continues the legacy of the renowned Silvio Carta company. Founded by his grandfather, Silvio Carta, in the 1950s in Baratili San Pietro, Sardinia, the company initially focused on Vernaccia di Oristano, an amber gold wine that quickly captivated palates. Under the leadership of Silvio and later his son Elio, the company expanded its range to include Mirto ‘riserva’, London Dry Gin, Vermouth, Whisky, and other traditional spirits, all celebrated for their exceptional quality. Today, Nino works alongside his family, carrying on the traditions with a blend of innovation and respect for the past. He actively participates in the production process, particularly in distillation, and is involved in international fairs, hosting tastings, and collaborating globally to promote Sardinian oenology and distillation. Nino is committed to sustainability, ensuring the preservation of Sardinia’s natural beauty in all operations. Through the family’s efforts, Silvio Carta continues to thrive, offering exquisite wines and spirits that reflect the island’s unique terroir and culture.
