017: Let Go of Hustle and Embrace Slowing Down with Chelsea Capps

Today’s episode is all about taking a step back from busyness, hustle, and burnout. Much easier said than done! That’s why I invited my friend Chelsea Capps to the show to explain how she went from burning the midnight oil to prioritizing herself and setting better boundaries in work and life. If you find yourself falling back into the pre-COVID hustle after the forced slowdown of 2020, this is the episode for you!

Chelsea Capps is a full-time corporate marketer and the founder of The Branding Alchemist, a side hustle she launched to help solve business and marketing problems of all kinds with the power of brand strategy. The way Chelsea sees it, the process of transforming a brand is a lot like the science of alchemy: melting down the elements of your message and your vibe until all that’s left is gold. She’s also super passionate about personal development, and looks to weave her clients’ unique stories into the most authentic version of their brand identity. If our conversation at all inspires you to take a look at defining your values personally or upping your brand messaging game professionally, hit her up on Instagram @thebrandingalchemist or check out her website at www.thebrandingalchemist.com.

Some ways to let go of hustle and embrace slowing down are:

  • Stop and celebrate your successes. Let today’s accomplishments be enough to celebrate in the moment before jumping right into the next endeavor.
  • Make a happiness list! This is a list of things that are easy to access and achieve that make you feel fulfilled. For example: cooking a fun new recipe, cleaning up an area of your home, or listening to your favorite podcasts (we hope Wake Up Call makes the list!).
  • When you’re in a place of overwhelm, instead of planning for where you’ll be in 5 or 10 years, focus on what’s right in front of you. Just take the next best step forward.
  • Define your values and your “why” and start infusing these findings into your daily life.

Welcome to the Wake Up Call Podcast with Alicia Hopkins (that’s me!). I work in corporate sales by day and am a personal development guru and Life Coach by night. My goal in this podcast is to share valuable and actionable tips on what I call the “Core Four” - mindfulness, movement, habits, and growth - so you can build a life that feels true to you. I will be interviewing people who have had a “wake up call” that their good-on-paper life wasn’t lighting them up, and what they did to change that. Join us every week for a new episode of the Wake Up Call Podcast with Alicia Hopkins!
