Register for tomorrow night's COVID-19 Virtual Provider Town Hall! Thursday, October 8 2020 from 6-7 p.m. MST In this episode, we will focus on when to order an ECG and other cardiac considerations for return to play after COVID-19 infection. Approximately 35 to 45 million youth ages 6 to 18 participate in some form of athletics. As more of these young athletes return to sport amid the lingering pandemic, primary care providers are navigating new guidance about the evaluation and clearance of patients who have recovered from COVID-19. And because COVID-19 infections in pediatric patients are more likely to be asymptomatic or mild compared to adults, pediatric providers will frequently be presented with return-to play questions for patients who had asymptomatic or very mild disease. Join our next Virtual COVID-19 Provider Town Hall As countries in the Southern Hemisphere move through what would normally be their influenza season, early data indicates that efforts to stop COVID-19 have all but eliminated the typical viral spread of flu in those communities. These early behaviors have providers in the Americas speculating if influenza will take a similarly mild course, while others warn of a “Twindemic” dual impact of COVID-19 and influenza. Drowning is quick and silent. It is also the single-leading cause of death among children aged 1-4 and is a top cause death among teens. As pediatricians, we offer an important voice to help educate our parents, patients and community about how to keep kids safe in and around the water. Recently two of our pediatric residents, Dr. Laura Bricklin and Dr. Emma Harding, were awarded a CATCH grant for drowning prevention and are joining us today to review important water safety information for bathtubs, pools and open water.
