The Other Side of Surrogacy - Jennifer Lahl | Maiden Mother Matriarch 11

This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit www.louiseperry.co.uk

My guest today is Jennifer Lahl, founder and president of the Center for Bioethics and Culture Network, Jennifer spent 25 years working as a paediatric critical care nurse, a hospital administrator, and a senior-level nursing manager. Now she works as a writer, campaigner, and documentary filmmaker, with films including Lines That Divide: The Great Stem Cell Debate, Eggsploitation, Anonymous Father’s Day, and Breeders: A Subclass of Women?, the last of which focuses on surrogacy. Her most recent film, Trans Mission: What’s the Rush to Reassign Gender? was released in June 2021. All of her films are available for free on the Center for Bioethics and Culture Network's YouTube channel.

We spoke about Jennifer’s anti-surrogacy campaigning work, how the industry has changed over time, the various health risks to both surrogate mothers and egg donors, and why businesses that offer ‘egg freezing packages’ definitely don’t have their employees’ best interests at heart.

In the extended version of the episode we spoke about the pushback Jennifer has had to her campaigning, the ethics of sperm donation, and some of the bizarre cases Jennifer has come across. You can find extended episodes, bonus episodes, and the MMM chat community at louiseperry.substack.com
