Are you okay with waiting for people?

Today I’d like to talk a little about waiting.

This is a continuation of the previous episode.

Last time, I talked about people arriving late.

Today, I’ll share some thoughts about waiting.

In the past, I didn’t really like waiting.

Of course, I am late sometimes too.

But usually I try to arrive on time, or a little early.

So when I lived in Japan,

I think I sometimes felt a little irritated with friends who were late.

Of course, if they said “sorry,” it was okay.

But if they said nothing, I think I felt a bit annoyed.

But after coming to Singapore, something changed.

Few people arrive exactly on time.

So I started to think that it is normal.

Because I came to another country,

I felt that different ways of thinking are natural.

So I changed the way I think a little.

The meeting time

is not the “real” time, I told myself.

I started to think it begins a little later.

It’s a bit funny, isn’t it?

But I still feel a bit sorry if I am late.

So I still arrive a little early.

Usually about ten minutes early.

But when I do that,

Sometimes I wait about twenty minutes.

Well, I guess this can’t be helped either.

When you are in another country,

I think it is important to follow the local way.

Little by little, I think I need to get used to this feeling.
