Ep26 - Has anyone ever said your outfit looks a bit off?

Has anyone ever told you, “That outfit looks a bit off?” I used to worry about what I wear in Japan, but not so much in Singapore. In this episode, I share my honest thoughts in a relaxed way.

==Japanese and English scripts==

Are you interested in clothes?

To be honest, I’m not interested at all.

I haven’t been interested since I was a child.

I think clothes are just something you wear.

When I was in Japan, my mum, my siblings, and my friends often said to me:

“Isn’t that outfit a bit uncool?”

“Isn’t that combination a bit strange?”

There is a word, “dasai”.

It means “not cool”.

At that time, I felt a bit shocked.

But now, it’s a good memory.

Thanks to people around me, I somehow wore normal clothes.

But even now, I still don’t really know what is good.

For now, I wear black or navy trousers.

And I wear a simple T-shirt.

I feel like that should be okay.

When I was in Japan, I felt a bit worried.

I often wondered, “Is this outfit okay?”

And I often asked my friends.

In Japan, if you are different, you stand out a bit.

We say “uku”.

If you wear very different clothes, you might stand out.

So I was a bit careful.

But after coming to Singapore, things changed a bit.

Here, I feel like I can wear anything.

Even randomly chosen clothes are fine.

I feel like people don’t really care.

In a good way, they are not interested in me.

That feels very comfortable.

I feel very comfortable here.

Of course, not everyone is like that.

But I feel there are more people who don’t mind, compared to Japan.

Maybe Japan is a bit more sensitive.

I feel like Singapore suits me better.

What about you?

Do you care about what you wear?

Or do you not really mind?
