Golden Light Monday: Release What You Didn't Know You Were Holding

Golden Light Monday: Release What You Didn't Know You Were Holding

Hey there, I'm Julia Cartwright, and I'm so glad you're here with me today. Early Monday morning, August seventeenth, right? That time when the weekend's already a blur and the week stretches ahead like an endless hallway. Maybe you woke up and felt that familiar tightness in your shoulders, or perhaps your mind's already running three meetings ahead. You're not alone in that. Today, we're going to do something simple but powerful: we're going to practice what I call the Body Release, and it's going to feel like letting air out of a balloon you didn't even realize you'd been inflating. So let's get comfortable. You can be sitting, lying down, standing by your kitchen counter with coffee in hand, I don't judge. Find a position where your body feels supported but not so cozy you'll drift off. Well, actually, if you drift off, that's fine too. Your nervous system knows what it needs. Take a breath in through your nose for a count of four. Hold it for just a moment. Now exhale through your mouth like you're releasing a sigh you've been holding since last Tuesday. Feel that? That's already the beginning of relaxation. Do it again. In for four, hold, and release. Now I want you to bring your awareness to the crown of your head. Imagine a warm, golden light pooling there, like honey melting slowly down. Feel any tension? Just notice it without judgment. As you exhale, let that light drip down past your eyes, your cheeks, your jaw. So many of us clench our jaws when we're stressed, did you know that? Let your teeth separate just slightly. Soften your tongue. Continue this mental pour of golden light down through your neck, your shoulders, that place where stress loves to hide. Down your arms, all the way to your fingertips. Let your hands feel heavy and peaceful. Watch the light travel down your chest, across your belly, all the way to your legs. Your knees, your calves, your feet. By the time that warmth reaches your toes, your whole body is humming with ease. Stay here for a few breaths. You don't need to do anything. You don't need to be productive or impressive or ready. You're simply allowing your body to remember what it feels like to let go. When you're ready, gently bring your awareness back to the room. Notice how you feel, even if it's just slightly softer than when you started. Today, carry this awareness with you. When tension creeps back in, and it will, simply pause and remember that golden light. You've got this. Thanks so much for practicing Relaxation with me.
