How should municipalist governments manage the police? Insecurity is often among the greatest public concerns. But cases of police brutality have put the debate about police methods on the agenda; in particular their proportionality, biases and impunity. In this session, we'll reflect on the challenges of guaranteeing the safety and equality of citizens as municipalists in the context of the resurgence of the global Black Lives Matter movement.

¿Cómo gestionar la policía desde un gobierno municipalista? A menudo la inseguridad se encuentra entre las mayores preocupaciones de la ciudadanía. Pero a la vez los casos de brutalidad policial ponen en la agenda pública el debate sobre los métodos utilizados por las fuerzas de seguridad, su proporcionalidad, sus sesgos y su impunidad. Reflexionamos sobre el reto de garantizar la integridad y la igualdad de la ciudadanía desde el municipalismo en el contexto del resurgimiento del movimiento global Black Lives Matter.

Com gestionar la policia des d'un govern municipalista? Sovint la inseguretat es troba entre les majors preocupacions de la ciutadania. Però alhora els casos de brutalitat policial posen en l'agenda pública el debat sobre els mètodes utilitzats per les forces de seguretat, la seva proporcionalitat, els seus biaixos i la seva impunitat. Reflexionem sobre el repte de garantir la integritat i la igualtat de la ciutadania des del municipalisme en el context del ressorgiment del moviment global Black Lives Matter.
