E152: CPTSD and Isolation: One Small Practice for Letting Someone In

E152: CPTSD and Isolation: One Small Practice for Letting Someone In

"Build resilience" sounds nice and means nothing until it's specific. Here's one practice, one relationship, one week.

Monday's episode introduced the Resilience Questionnaire and the research finding behind it: the single strongest resilience factor isn't a long list of supportive people — it's just one reliably safe relationship. This episode gives you the exact three-step practice for deliberately deepening that one relationship, starting this week.

  1. Identify your candidate — the one person who's never used your vulnerability against you
  2. Deepen with specificity, not intensity — share one small true thing, not your whole history
  3. Notice what actually happens, on purpose — the deliberate noticing afterward is what rewires your nervous system, not the disclosure itself

Have one small, honest conversation with your one person this week — smaller is better for a first rep. Afterward, take ten seconds to actually notice what happened and let your body register the safety. If you haven't yet, take the ACE and Resilience Questionnaires from Monday's episode (linked below).
