This week we review the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2024 Induction Ceremony! We run through the entire show and share our reactions to every performer, some of the other inductees, and some of the presenters. What was our favorite performance of the night? 40 years ago, one of the greatest concert films ever made was released: STOP MAKING SENSE by the Talking Heads. The film has recently been re-released in a beautifully remastered format by A24. Anthony, Stephanie, Rob and Alan review in-depth the new release of this classic film which captures a band at the height of their confidence; We'll talk about the first time we ever saw the film, our favorite songs, the supporting musicians, why this film is so important, and how it compares to David Byrne's more recent concert film, American Utopia. We're joined by author ROB DREW, whose new book Unspooled: How the Cassette Made Music Shareable examines the enormous impact that cassettes had on the music industry and cultural landscape. Our conversation ranges from the art and science of mix tapes to indie metal and punk bands who spread their music via cassettes, and from how the cassette changed the way artists recorded albums to congressional hearings to decide if home taping should be illegal.
