Hi My name is Meenakshi from the international institute of digital marketing Today I am going to talk about offering a personalized shopping experience in lock-downs both online and in-store Leisurely moving across the stores, strolling down the aisles, and discovering new items that you didn’t know existed is what a normal customer’s expectation of a shopping experience is. Picture this scene. A customer walks in and logs into their account online using face recognition. As they walk around, they can scan their phone on products and signage which in turn gives more information about the product on screen. In today’s post-covid world, there is an increased focus on hygiene and with social distancing measures in place, the shopping experience runs the risk of alienating customers. Therefore, there is an even more increased need to connect with customers on an emotional level to pump in the joy and excitement of shopping. Technology can aid retailers to enable in-store customer journeys a seamless experience. Biometrics is popular to maintain a balance between security and convenience in registration and payment processes. Face recognition trials have proved to be an efficient way to authenticate payments. Automation of the check-out process, monitoring customer movements for their preferences is now a reality using the Internet of Things(IoT). For a seamless shopping experience online, providing personalized search results, optimizing search results pages are ways online retailers can retain customers. Live chat and maintaining social media pages are popular options to provide instant answers for any questions that the customers have which is no different than a salesperson helping customers in-store. Retailers have to keep an eye on the latest e-commerce technologies to bring about the reality of creating convenient, magical, and engaging experiences to delight, serve and support customers.
