Fire Brian Gewirtz!

Former lead writer and SVP of Creative at WWE, Brian Gewirtz, shares stories from his new book, “There’s Just One Problem… True Tales From The Former One-Time 7th Most Powerful Person in WWE.” He explains how Jericho and Mick Foley inspired him to write the book, what it was like to do it during the pandemic lockdown, and where he got the title! Brian speaks in detail about his experience at Wrestler’s Court as a defendant alongside Edge and Christian, the incident that landed all 3 there in the first place, the ruling they received from The Undertaker (who was judge), and how Brian actually contemplated quitting the business at the time. Brian recalls his first days at WWE, what it was like working so closely with Vince McMahon and the creative team, and how he learned to pitch ideas. He talks about some of his favorite angles and promos including the Rock Concerts with Dwayne Johnson, the Chris Jericho & Shawn Michaels feud of 2008-09, and the Survivor Series 1999 promos with Kurt Angle. He talks about the best and the worst of the celebrity guests on RAW including Bob Barker, Jon Heder, and Al Sharpton. Plus, Brian discusses “cheap heat,” and what it’s like working with The Rock at 7 Bucks Productions.
