Brandon Thurston is the guy behind Wrestlenomics, the service that offers research and data analytics for the pro wrestling business. He tracks rating for everyone including AEW, WWE, and Impact, among others, and charts what each TV show is doing in terms of audience and demographics, and what those numbers mean when it comes to success and growth potential for each company, and the business in general. He explains how ratings work, the difference between total audience and demographics, and why the latter is more important to advertisers. He explains cable rankings, average quarter hours, and how streaming has really changed the landscape of media consumption. He talks about cable and traditional television versus streaming, the advantages of each, and how streaming has impacted live TV shows, house shows, and pay-per-view. He breaks down the Wednesday Night Wars, what that win meant for AEW and how it was determined. He makes some predictions about future WWE & AEW TV deals, and what will happen if the big tech companies like Amazon, Apple, and Netflix decide to get into the wrestling business.
