Regular Guy Friday Ep. 14: The Art of 'Non Negotiation' and Being Krisp
Hay Kweenz! We did it again. We Regular Guys and Gals made it to another Friday to discuss the usual variety of important and not so important topics. This week's RGF included discussion on seeing friends differently when you begin to evolve and other challenges involved. Kev shared a spark-note therapy session and formula to apply to 'said friends.' Winston Churchill taught us how we negotiate with others when we don't even know it and they do! The tale of the scorpion and frog came up as Kev and Kels bantered about those who just can't help but be who they are (scorpions) and how to be aware of the scorpions lurking in our own lives. Kelsey discussed acupuncture and seeing light. Just when it seemed like smooth sailing, Kelsey confessed to creating the term 'bish' (short for bitch) which horrified Kev who reminded us of 'Kweenz Rules' and the amendment that Kweenz don't lead, they follow! Kels recovered by offering a new, popular Kween term and re-taught us about snapping, roses, thorns and bunny ears. Kev discussed what being 'Krisp' means and how popular the term is with the kids on IG. The two debated the need for adding a Gen Z Kween to RGF to help them with Kween speak updates as well as an expert in Kween studies, overall. Exacerbated, Kev revealed he only has two RGF shows left of content in him and how moving to Vegas to drink oneself to oblivion may not be the worst option. Yes, it was one of the most relevant, clear and important RGF episodes to date and no, Kels and Kev did NOT screw up their sign off: Bye Betches. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/better-together-w-maria/support

266. When Children Have to Become Caretakers to Their Parents
YouTube: https://youtu.be/DJYcQQG-R9s On today’s episode, Keven, Kelsey, and our new team member Pooja discuss the role reversal that occurs when the child begins to look after the parent. Both Maria and Keven have experienced this first hand, having taken care of their own ailing parents. Though, their cases are not unique and at one point or another, most of us will have to take on the role of caretaker. However, as Keven reminds us, those that have good, loving parents have a responsibility to be there for them, especially in times of need. And lastly, if you are lucky enough to still have your parents around, show them some love. Call them, give them a hug, or do anything that shows your parents that you appreciate everything they do. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/better-together-w-maria/support

265. How to Live a More Effortless Life w/ NYT Bestselling Author Greg McKeown
YouTube: https://youtu.be/11oCYuAZasQ Greg McKeown, New York Times Bestselling author of Essentialism, sat down with the #HealSquad to discuss his new book, Effortless: Make It Easier to Do What Matters Most. Greg taught us how overthinking leads to clutter and less mental energy, and emphasized that we must declutter our brains. We discussed burnout and how there are only two types of people in the world right now, those who are burnt out and those who acknowledge they are burnt out. Greg gives us tools on how to spot burnout and teaches us that past a certain point, working harder leads to negative results...it’s not worth the burnout. We learned that through journaling, making our chores fun and giving them purpose, being more present and CHOOSING to take the lighter vs the heaver path we can all start to live a more effortless life. Greg teaches us that instead of saying “how can I work harder to get better results?” say “how can I achieve better results by making it more effortless?” We also discuss the power of having the ‘courage to be rubbish’ or not being held down by perfectionism, which is crucial to living more effortlessly. Greg had so many incredible lessons and life hacks we had to make it a two-part episode. So please enjoy part two! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/better-together-w-maria/support
