Riding The Wave Of Life | Jenny Fisher Ep. 123
“WATER FLOWS BECAUSE IT’S WILLING.” Marty Rubin How many things in your life right now are forced? A lot of us fall into a trap of chasing a dream that isn’t really our own. Maybe we saw a glimpse of what we thought was a good life and committed it to memory. We chase these dreams so hard, not realizing we’re swimming against the current. What if, instead, we listened to the feedback around us and leaned into the things that we were naturally drawn to? That’s the definition of living with authenticity. It’s not so much about making something happen as much as it’s about letting something happen. We just need to keep pushing forward and making adjustments along the way. My guest today, Jenny Fisher, has taken step after step and has gained a bit of a following along the way. Just a few moments with @fitfishmom and you can tell right away why so many people enjoy her fitness videos and workout tips. She cares. What started out as a passion for people has led Jenny into a life of sales, family, and fitness. It’s clear that her love of surfing extends far past the shores. Jenny is a surfer through life, enjoying the wave and adjusting to feedback along the way. Hop into today’s episode and hear Jenny and I discuss leaning into what we’re good at, not taking “No” personally, and having faith in ourselves. We touch on so much more throughout the episode as well. I truly hope you enjoy this one! How To Become Dangerous | Tripp Lanier Ep. 122
“IN THIS WORLD, THERE IS ALWAYS DANGER FOR THOSE WHO ARE AFRAID OF IT.” George Bernard Shaw Have you ever stopped and took the time to analyze why you want the things you want? Sure, it would be nice to get that nice car and the house on the hill. But is that something you really want, or is it something you think will provide a particular outcome? I know that’s a bit deep, but just walk with me for a second. What if the titles, goals, achievements, and attention were all just a means to an end? With that being said, wouldn’t it be good to know what exactly that “end” really is? My guest today, Tripp Lanier knows how to peel back that top layer and really get to the root of what’s bugging us. In his book “This Book Will Make You Dangerous,” Tripp takes the reader on a self-explorative journey. In this episode, Tripp and I dig deep into the theory behind our goals, embracing one's mortality, and discovering what it means to really live! How To Build Your Network | Kamber Parker Ep. 121
“YOU CAN HAVE EVERYTHING IN LIFE YOU WANT IF YOU WILL JUST HELP ENOUGH OTHER PEOPLE GET WHAT THEY WANT” Zig Ziglar I truly believe that who you know can take you farther than simply what you know. The people we build relationships with and positively impact in this world are the ones who help us grow. When they say, “It takes a village,” it applies to so much more than just raising children. It applies to raising your business or career. Whether it’s seeking guidance, learning from others, finding people to serve, or helping someone else with a problem you once had, networks make the world go round. Luckily for us, today’s guest, Kamber Parker, is opening her network to you. What started out as a simple question; “HOW DID YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY?” Has become a collection of discussions, interviews, and insights into how young professionals can choose the career path that’s right for them and tips on how they can best excel in their chosen field. Some of the best ideas are born from personal experiences. Kamber shares her journey of leaving her job, starting over, and creating The YoPro Know. Practicing Gratitude | Jess Boer Ep. 120
“GRATITUDE IS THE HEALTHIEST OF ALL HUMAN EMOTIONS. THE MORE YOU EXPRESS GRATITUDE FOR WHAT YOU HAVE, THE MORE LIKELY YOU WILL HAVE EVEN MORE TO EXPRESS GRATITUDE FOR.” Zig Ziglar What are you grateful for? It’s a question that some people have a hard time finding the answer to. Others, can’t help but rattle off the list of things they’re grateful for. So what’s the difference? Perspective. The way we look at life has a significant impact on the experience we have through it. We can either enjoy days of abundance and pleasure or live each day filled with sadness and disappointment. The choice is ours. Choosing to live with gratitude is a daily activity that becomes a habit over time. When you intentionally practice gratitude, it becomes easier down the line. Soon you’ll notice not only the good things in your life but the good things that continue to pour in. This is a special episode for me as we approach Thanksgiving 2020. In a year where so many people experienced loss and setbacks, we struggle to find the things we are still thankful for. To help me share in my gratitude and vision for the future, my guest today is none other than my fiancè Jess Boer. Not only am I thankful for her and the time we share together, but I’m also thankful for the challenges we have faced and continue to overcome. I have had the pleasure of watching Jess on her journey of growth and development in the years we’ve been together. Taking a leap of faith and moving to Charlotte from New York was just the first step in what has been an amazing experience of growth and transformation. Join Jess and I as we discuss the transition of starting a new life, share the things we are thankful for, and discuss different ways we can all live with a bit more gratitude. It’s Okay To Not Be Okay | Aly Masters Ep. 119
IF YOU DON’T HEAL WHAT HURT YOU, YOU’LL BLEED ON PEOPLE WHO DIDN’T CUT YOU. -Unknown Sometimes all we need is someone willing to listen to the things that are happening in our lives… I feel like there has been more attention given to mental health lately. The year 2020 has definitely pushed the conversation forward and made it visible on more peoples radar. I myself have been aware and concerned about mental health for a while now. It’s something I realized we all struggle with at some point. If you’re reading this and thinking; “I don’t know about that, Ted.” Try and think back to the last time something rubbed you the wrong way. Maybe you snapped at someone or acted in a way you weren’t too proud of. Yup… That’s a glimpse of what mental health is all about. The emotions that we feel play a lot into the way we act. If we or the people closest to us don’t know where those emotions are coming from, how can we remedy any behavior we’re not proud of? My guest today wants to empower you to take that journey. Aly Masters is a mental health advocate. Through her blog https://www.naturallyaly.com/, Aly lets you know that your mental health matters. The real value she offers is an ear to listen and connect. Something so many of us truly needs. Often times the first step in healing is understanding that we’re not alone. That is where Aly says the reflection can happen and the healing can begin. Of course, it all starts with us actually wanting to heal and grow. Aly and I touch on so many topics in this episode. Whether it’s finding someone to relate to, finding comfort in knowing that we’re not alone, or realizing that comparison is the thief of joy, you’re sure to resonate with what Aly has to share. Hop into today’s episode and help us heal together! You Get Knocked Down, You Get Back Up | Mike Lee Ep. 118
“I HATED EVERY MINUTE OF TRAINING, BUT I SAID, ‘DON’T QUIT. SUFFER NOW AND LIVE THE REST OF YOUR LIFE AS A CHAMPION’.” Muhammad Ali There are countless metaphors for life in boxing. I’m willing to bet you can think of a few right now. But why is that? Maybe it’s because boxing, like many sports, has so many parallels to the struggles and obstacles of life. Putting on the gloves and stepping into the ring is like the equivalent of going after our dreams and ambitions. Once we make the decision to chase our audacious goals, we’re bound to get humbled by the work needed to excel, the commitment needed to get noticed, and the competition we’re guaranteed to face along the way. How does that saying go? “EVERYONE HAS A PLAN UNTIL THEY GET PUNCHED IN THE MOUTH…” Mike Tyson Despite the challenges and the mountain of resistance in front of us, so many people still choose to climb that mountain. They choose to enter the ring, get bruised up and bloody, all for the chance to see the view from the top[Rope]. My guest today, Mike Lee, knows what it feels like to reach that mountain top and would tell you it’s worth every bit of sweat. As a professional boxer, Mike went 21-1 with 11 knockouts and has been ranked the number 3 fighter in the world and fought for a World Title last July. Mike’s journey would not be without its challenges though as health issues midway through his career led to a two-year hiatus from the ring. Battling an autoimmune disease and making his way back to continue what was at the time an undefeated career is the only thing you need to know about Mike and the kind of determination he has burning within him. As he says in this episode: "THE GREATEST THAT HAVE EVER DONE IT HAVE ALL HIT THE MAT" Mike Lee Hop into today’s episode and listen as Mike and I discuss developing the mentality of never quitting, going all-in on a dream, focusing on your health, and getting back up after you get knocked down. We Live & Learn | George Cowart Ep. 117
“LIFE IS INHERENTLY RISKY. THERE IS ONLY ONE BIG RISK YOU SHOULD AVOID AT ALL COSTS, AND THAT IS THE RISK OF DOING NOTHING.” Denis Waitley It’s amazing the lessons we can learn in life if we’re smart enough to just listen to those who have lived before us. If we could only let the wealth of knowledge pour over us and soak us with lessons and tips on how to navigate this thing called life. Just imagine how easier this could be. Unfortunately, if you’re like me, we tend to do things the hard way. We want to find out for ourselves if that oven is really hot. If that road is really a dead end. And most importantly, if the glitter really isn’t gold. Then we grow up and find out that all those cliche sayings and lessons actually had some truth to them. Of course, the one you hear all the time is: “IF I KNEW THEN WHAT I KNOW NOW.” Don’t be that guy or gal saying this next year, three years from now, or a decade from now. Learn the lessons now and apply them! Sometimes, the best way to get ahead of the game is by getting a mentor or trusted friend to help guide you. Thankfully this podcast allows me to sit down and learn from countless mentors and business owners. The biggest lessons, however, are more about life than they are about business. You can tell that my guest today, George Cowart has put a lot of thought into how he lives his life and runs his business. Learning from his father and forced to take over at a young age, George had to implement life’s lessons early. Georges’ advice is well thought out and spot on. You can also hear his passion for people and relationships when he speaks. There is truly so much we can all learn from this man. Hop into today’s episode as we explore mourning and getting over a loss, facing the things that scare us, and trusting in God’s plan. You’re going to love this episode! The ABC’s Of Life | Andrej Suttles Ep. 116
“TAKE CHANCES, MAKE MISTAKES. THAT’S HOW YOU GROW. PAIN NOURISHES YOUR COURAGE. YOU HAVE TO FAIL IN ORDER TO PRACTICE BEING BRAVE.” Mary Tyler Moore We talk a lot about taking chances, starting that company, and going for the dream on this podcast. Whether it’s a business owner, a single mother, someone overcoming addiction in their lives, or simply someone who found something they love and do it every day, we’ve had great stories on this show. Through it all my Executive Producer, Andrej Suttles has been a fly on the wall, listening and absorbing each and every conversation. In his personal life, Andrej is more than a business owner and serial entrepreneur. He’s an empowerment coach and “Cheat Code” helping people monetize their dreams and unlock their potential. This passion of his has put him in the room with some major business owners, brands, and influential people. Imagine if you could collect all that knowledge and give it to someone you love. Just so they can have a playbook on how to navigate these uncharted waters called life. That’s exactly what Andrej did when he wrote the book “The ABCs Of Life: Empowering Yourself To Succeed.“ This short but impactful read was created with Andrej’s younger sister in mind but applies to anyone looking to recalibrate their growth in life. Each chapter reflects on a word that’s selected to match a particular letter of the alphabet. After a short reflection, there are questions and takeaways that make this book more of an interactive and therapeutic experience. In today’s episode, Andrej and I discuss his inspiration for writing the book along with exploring the importance of everyone telling their story. He encourages listeners to analyze the pieces of their life and start putting them together to form a bigger picture. Andrej also gives tangible advice on how we can all develop a plan and overcome doubt in our endeavors. You’re definitely going to leave this episode motivated and inspired to take that next step towards your potential!
