How personal boundaries change your life when you have CPTSD
Boundaries for CPTSD and Trauma survivors are often looked at as parameters that we place around others for our safety and protection. Those boundaries are very important but they are not the only boundaries we should have in place. Why? Because for us to be successful in our healing journey we must give ourselves permission to heal by acknowledging that we are capable and then by forcing ourselves into executing the promises that we make to ourselves. We are often faced with reflecting on the idea of "if we have done enough." The truth is that while we may be heading in the right direction, we may also be missing out on some key pillars to make change permanent. In this episode, I talk about the practical steps that it takes to create change in your life. To know how we got to where we are, we must first understand our past. Next, we must decide what kind of future we want. Starting the process of healing trauma also involves writing goals. Then we have to reverse-engineer the life that we wish to have by identifying the first step to the path we want to take. Finally, we must invoke personal boundaries. It is very easy for trauma survivors to not understand that healing is possible because we have never put a game plan in place of had a trauma and CPTSD life coach to help guide us to success. Ultimately, if we want to overcome our past and heal our inner child then we must take action in holding ourselves responsible for following through. How to date and heal trauma at the same time. MWM Episode 1
Dating with trauma is such a hard road to walk. We often find ourselves seeking worth and validation, along with trust and love from our partners without first giving those requirements to ourselves. Dating with CPTSD requires a real intrinsic look at who you are and who you want to be and how you want to be in a relationship. If you didn't know, I am hosting Mondays with Michael, a complimentary small group coaching session each Monday night. In these sessions, we discuss a range of topics from the science of trauma, healing, and mindset to working through everyday problems like worth in relationships, dealing with unsupporting family members, and identifying and re-framing behavior patterns. In this episode of the Michael Unbroken Podcast, I pulled one of the conversations from MWM because I believe that as trauma survivors, we all want the same things: love, self-worth, value, and hope. In this conversation, we talk about all of that and more. You can listen to this episode by clicking the link below. Until next time my friend...Be Unbroken. -Michael p.s. Is CPTSD Controlling You Life?
I recently said that childhood trauma, CPTSD, and abuse is both the cause and the solution to many of our problems in life. As a trauma coach, my job is to help you do what I have to do, and that is to figure out the underlying reason behind what is happening in your life. Of course, you may be wondering how a childhood filled with adverse experiences can be beneficial in the world. I don't look at this as something that makes your life better when I say solution I mean that understanding our past gives us the leverage and ability to change our present and future. The choices that we make in life are often a reflection of your past. Most trauma survivors don't recognize that it is our past experiences in mental, emotional, and physical abuse that lead us to where we are today. We are faced with living out the path that others laid in place of us, or worse; we don't understand that we can create change in our lives. We often leverage our past experiences to cop out of accountability and personal responsibility because let's face it; it is much easier to play the victim than it is to be the hero. I know that from personal experience. In this video, I talk about the power of understanding how your past experiences can be causing CPTSD, dissociation, unknown illnesses, and lack of personal power, and why educating yourself about the impact of your past is how you move through it. An Open Letter to America
As a leader, I have to admit when I am wrong and when I have made a mistake. I have made a colossal mistake in light of the events of the last couple of weeks and done so to my embarrassment. As someone who has always prided himself on rational thinking and finding solutions to problems, I realized in the heat of the moment I did not act in alignment with principles. I posted an open letter titled Dear Racist White People, and I shot my shot way too low. In fact, so embarrassingly low that I regret even posting it. Perhaps regret is the wrong word. Let me explain. Asking for help as a surivor of trauma
In this episode I talk about the most important thing that I did for myself in healing from trauma and that is asking for help. Many childhood trauma and abuse survivors are scared to ask for help or have an "I can do this on my own" mentality. The reality is that in order to continue to see progress or even get started we have to leverage our communities, teams, and those that are willing to support us. This episode is a little longer than usual as I really wanted to drive home some key points about how I implimented asking for help into my life and how through doing so everything changed.
