#37 The Breakup You Saw Coming: Why It Still Hurts So Much

In this episode of The Breakup Debrief, Kelly explores a very different kind of breakup- the one you knew was coming.

Sometimes relationships don’t end suddenly. Instead, they slowly reach a point where unresolved issues, repeated conversations & differences about the future start to build up over time. You might feel the tension, sense the uncertainty & quietly wonder if the relationship will last… but still keep going anyway.

Kelly discusses why people stay in relationships even when they suspect the end may be approaching, why these breakups can still feel incredibly painful & why it’s so tempting to go back once the relationship ends.

Drawing from her own experience, she also talks about the emotional complexity of “kicking the can down the road” in a relationship- hoping problems will resolve themselves, delaying difficult conversations & eventually reaching the moment where someone has to address the elephant in the room.
