Pause and Pour: Your Sunday Reset for the Week Ahead

Pause and Pour: Your Sunday Reset for the Week Ahead

Hey there, friend. I'm Julia Cartwright, and I'm so glad you're here with me today. It's Sunday morning, early July, and I'm guessing that somewhere in your week, the to-do lists started piling up, your shoulders crept toward your ears, and you thought, "I just need to hit pause." Well, you're in exactly the right place. Today, we're practicing something I call deep relaxation, and I promise it's going to feel like putting down a weight you didn't even realize you were carrying. So let's start by getting comfortable. Find a spot where you can sit or lie down without being interrupted for the next few minutes. Maybe that's your couch, your bed, or even a quiet corner. There's no perfect position here, just what feels good for your body right now. Once you're settled, let's take a few breaths together and just arrive in this moment. Breathe in slowly through your nose for a count of four. Hold it there for a moment. Now exhale through your mouth like you're gently fogging a window. Let that breath carry away whatever you walked in here with. Again, in through the nose, four counts. And out through the mouth. Beautiful. One more time at your own pace, and now we're going to anchor into something I call the body scan with intention. I want you to imagine a warm light starting at the crown of your head, like golden honey slowly melting down. As it flows, everything it touches softens. Feel that warmth moving across your forehead, smoothing out any tension that's been living there. Down to your eyes, your cheeks, your jaw. Let your jaw release. That light continues down your neck and shoulders, and here's the key: wherever you notice holding, just acknowledge it. You don't have to force anything. Just say silently, "I see you, I release you." That warm, liquid sensation drifts down your arms, all the way to your fingertips. Feel it pooling in your chest, melting your heart space open. Down through your belly, your hips, and now it's moving into your legs, your knees, your feet, anchoring you to whatever's beneath you. You're safe. You're supported. You're exactly where you need to be. Take three more breaths here, just breathing naturally, letting your body marinate in this sense of ease. Now, as you come back to this room, here's what I want you to remember today. Relaxation isn't something you earn by being productive first. It's your birthright, and you can visit it anytime you need a reset. Even just two minutes of this practice can rewire how you carry tension. Thank you so much for spending this time with me today on Relaxation. If this practice landed for you, please subscribe so you never miss a moment of calm. You deserve this. Take care of yourself.
