DISCUSSION: Both sides of the Dalai Lama discussion
I'm worried about doing this. It's a discussion that's become hugely charged from both sides. Some people calling for the Dalai Lama to be prosecuted for his actions, whilst others saying how dare you accuse someone who's devoted their life to kindness of such crimes. After seeing how things have played out since the video clip of him asking the boy to suck his tongue went hugely viral all over the internet, I wanted to see if I could present both sides of the discussion so that we could talk about it together. REACTION: Should paedophile's spend their life in prison? - GMB
Obviously, our answer to this is YES. But this lawyer comes onto national TV to explain why it's not possible. There are 100,000 convicted sex offenders currently on the register (walking our streets), and to put them all in prison for life would come at an astronomical cost that no one is prepared to pay for. Alongside the fact that our prison capacity is 85,000 and it’s already full with other criminals.
