Creating IMPACT as a Parent, Partner, and Professional with Todd Durkin

Creating IMPACT as a Parent, Partner, and Professional with Todd Durkin

Happy Mindful Monday! We are excited to start the year STRONG with an episode featuring one of our mentors, Todd Durkin.

This year is a clean slate for us to carve out a path and pursue our dreams. Todd is a great example of how to pursue service-oriented leadership and has helped many people transform their mindset with his books, speeches, and fitness programs.

If you’re a mom or dad looking to connect with your kids, this episode is for you. If you’re a parent struggling with work-life balance, this episode is for you. If you’re struggling with depression, anxiety, or mental health, this episode is for you. If you’re looking for more inspiration to move your body and overcome stagnation, this episode is for you. If you just want to start the year with a loving, heartfelt conversation - this episode is for you.

In this episode we cover the best practices for confronting your demons and overcoming your challenges. We talk about the importance of monitoring your self-talk, learning and practicing self-compassion, and growing through the inevitable storms in life and making pain your purpose. Todd talks about the importance of being led by our dreams and not pushed down by our problems, and living a life worth telling a story about.

We go deep with Todd’s family background and relationship with his father, who he considers his greatest mentor and best friend. Todd describes the twists and turns of his relationship with his dad and the importance of forgiveness and softening ourselves to embrace loving kindness and compassion.

One of the greatest lessons we learn from this episode is the importance of TIME. Todd describes his dad softening and becoming a more loving and gentle version of himself in the face of his heart attack because he realized he was living on borrowed time. But the reality is, we are all living on borrowed time. All we have is this moment and how we choose to spend time is directly connected to our levels of joy, satisfaction, growth, and purpose.

We go over the best ways we can balance our professional commitments and our family time, discuss the importance of sharing love, light, and inspiration in a time where the world so desperately needs it.

ABOUT TODD:

Todd is husband and parent of three amazing young people, Luke, Brady, and McKenna. He is also an internationally recognized author, speaker, and strength and conditioning coach. He was a trainer on NBC’s Strong, has been featured in Men’s Health, the New York Times, and he’s an Under Armour Sponsored Athlete. He has been behind the scenes working with some of the greatest professional football players of all-time, including LaDanian Tomlinson, Drew Brees and Darren Sproles.
